My God.
Absolutely horrific details about an ICE shooting in Minneapolis.

A witness says a woman was trying to drive away from an ICE operation and the ICE agent "reached across the hood of the car and shot her in the face like three, four times."

Bovino was there.

This is the kind of thing that the Founders explicitly designed our constitution to prevent; a president who has seized wealth for his own benefit without any intervention from Congress, which in our system is supposed to be the holder of the power of the purse.

Follow the money, or monied families in this case.
In new essay I talk about how Trump-Witkoff-Kushner are approaching the world the way the New York real estate families approach their businesses, and in their titanic idiocy and blinding greed are guaranteeing we become less prosperous, less safe, less free:

Clarence Thomas' wife plotted to overturn the 2020 election.

Both justices refused to recuse themselves from SCOTUS cases related to the January 6th plot.

It's a stain on our nation that this has effectively been forgotten.

This!
He has never been held accountable in any way that forced him to face his actions. He's too wealthy and powerful to be hurt by any fines and we failed to imprison him for his multiple crimes.
Like a toddler who never learned from natural consequences he continue his deplorable behavior.
The lesson of January 6th is that it does absolutely no good to prosecute the the violent foot soldiers if you're not going to prosecute the leaders and hold them accountable for their sedition under the full force of the law.

The American people electing Trump after he staged a coup attempt 5 years ago was a nail in the coffin of our democracy. You can rationalize it all you want - But inflation! In those states I see tools that rhyme with the Hungary and Poland story: aggressive gerrymandering, constitutional tax and spending caps, supermajority requirements to raise revenue, and captured state supreme courts that pre‑decide major fights as well as preempting local power of growing cities
