This started out as a plein air painting from the view of my studio window, but the morning light changed to dull gray and snow. The rest was finished from memory, and I purposefully separated some of the marks to make it more mosaic-like.

This oil on canvas showing the garden at the front of the studio was finished in 2024 and hung in the autumn exhibition of the Cambridge Drawing Society where it found a buyer. I called it "The Stepladder" (size 30" X 34").

I have seen this fucking article endlessly rewritten over the last fucking decade and I don't know how to explain to mainstream media that yes people tend to select partners who agree with them on issues like "should gay people marry" and "do the foreign hordes secretly wish to kill us"
