He/Him. A programmer with thespian leanings. I have a love of laserdiscs and physical media in general. Expect lots of rabbits, nerdiness, video editing, and unhealthy levels of Highlander 2.

LGBTQ+ welcome. Fascists not.

It was 40 years ago today (Nov 11, 1985) that Ralph Winter called from Los Angeles and left a message on the phone in my apartment in Honolulu, asking me if I'd like to work on Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home. In doing so, he changed my life. Thanks, Ralph!

I still had the honor of posting lots of spaceships with breasts on the timelines of real astronauts. 🥰

Not many people can say that.

Fair.
‘Pluribus’ Includes “Made By Humans” Disclaimer In Credits Amid AI Discourse
As artificial intelligence becomes less discernible and more prevalent, Vince Gilligan is setting an example about transparency with 'Pluribus'.

One of my "holy grail" #Laserdiscs just arrived!

CAPTAIN SUPERMARKET!

The western version of the film had some boring title like #EvilDead 3 #ArmyOfDarkness, but only Japan released it with the true, superior title.

Last night I finished reading The Shining, my first (but not last) Stephen King novel.

While reading it I kept wondering why Kubrick left out all the crucial character backstory from his film, but it turns out I've only ever seen the International Cut which is missing 25 minutes of backstory.

Filmmaker Guillermo del Toro says 'I'd rather die' than use generative AI
Del Toro's new Frankenstein adaption reimagines Mary Shelley's 1818 Gothic novel. Frankenstein was like a tech bro: "creating something without considering the consequences," he explains.

Since yesterday's AI chat I've had a few requests/questions about what happened to all my old YouTube videos - God knows why - so I've just made (most of) them public again to avoid repeating myself. I'll probably take some back down again once I've settled on my long term plans.

So yeah, go nuts.

Wow, @pipmadeley.bsky.social is one of the most laid back and fun loving characters in Doctor Who fandom...and even he seems pissed about the AI shenanigans on the new Doctor Who Blu Ray.

The thing that makes Star Trek utopian isn’t the end of scarcity or the harmony between all peoples it’s also that the guy on the ship who gets laid the most plays the trombone at work and periodically does community theater

Tonight's spooky season film was Edgar Wright's incredible "Last Night in Soho."

It's become a bit of a Halloween staple for us and is possibly my favourite film of the decade.

Oof, the Doctor Who Season 13 Blu Ray looks like an AI nightmare. I thought these were meant to be definitive restorations rather than an experiment.

Sure AI *may* improve in the future but it's already being used to ruin "restorations" now.

Can confirm: they fucked up the Doctor Who Season 13 blu-ray with AI. How incredibly, incredibly disappointing. Especially after they denied it when the terrible trailer came out.

What a shame. Hold on to your DVDs.
Okay time to crack open The Android Invasion and check that scene versus the trailer.

As it's our anniversary weekend we finally got around to opening one of the bottles of sake we brought back from Japan.

Dassai 39 is my favourite, but we brought back a small bottle of the fancier 23 that is usually too expensive here in the UK.

I'd forgotten how smooth and floral it is.
