Any other tech folks out there have any advice for how to work in an industry that is actively participating in a genocide, without losing what remains of your mind?
Anyone out there happen to be aware of any non-complicit cloud providers?
The big 3 are out.
DigitalOcean?
cleura?
any others?

Can America please please fuck all the way off with date formats that are inconsistent, and assuming everywhere else uses your stupid system.
DD/MM/YYYY or YYYY/MM/DD are fine. There is either an increase in the units or a decrease.
MM/DD/YYYY is just stupid.

I absolutely love it when I hear something in a familiar piece of music that I've never really noticed before.
I have listened to Hey Joe by Jimi Hendrix more times than I could count since I was a teenager and never took notice of the backing vocals before this morning.

No, Samhain is not the word for Halloween.
It's the word for November, and the festival on the 1st of November.
Oíche Shamhna is Halloween, literally November Night.
And if you want to get properly into the old traditions of it, Sean-Samhain is on the 12th of November.

Zohran Mamdani caught lying that he understood Plato’s allegory of the cave, yet when asked to explain it, he seemed to instead explain Baudrillard’s theory of Simulacra and Simulation where reality has been replaced by symbols and signs, which seems similar to Plato’s theory but is not the same

We were talking about horror movies and the eldest was trying to make a point about the younger ones even being scared of Harry Potter, but she stumbled on the words and accidentally called him Horror Potty.
This is how I will be referring to the franchise from this point on.

How many have died to get you that vote?
Have respect for how hard it was to earn you the right to use that ballot paper.

Voting is a right that 13 men and children were shot dead trying to get in Derry 53 years ago. Particularly sickening after yesterday to see so many talking about spoiling them. Short memories

So much of the British education system is structured towards producing army recruits.
This is why they don't teach actual history.
This is why their legal system* is structured towards protecting the establishment.

How can they ever hope to recruit into the British Army when it's reputation is being damaged by all this bad press, etc.
The motivation to keep fresh recruits coming in is far greater than the burden of having to actually deal with their army's victims.

Others are digesting the fact that their state deployed paratroopers as peacekeepers - an oxymoron in itself, who killed children in broad daylight & then frustrated justice to the point that it was impossible. Such a stark contrast
