When McGinn was mayor he held an entire Youth and Families Initiative, which had 131 meetings with thousands of attendees, that helped shape the Families and Education Levy investments. Really not OK that Harrell and Burgess and Rivera won't do that for this levy, which is *far* larger in size.
CM Rivera says stakeholdering won't happen until the implementation plan stage, which is after the public votes on the levy. Now they are just suggesting four broad categories for investment.

When Saka says the SRO decision should be “local and fact-based” seems like some good facts for him to check out
From my article: “One key finding of this report is how despite the empirical research showing cops in schools do not deter gun violence in schools, school shootings still serve as a catalyst for increased school policing across the country.” chicagojustice.org/2024/03/26/c...

This morning in Seattle, the Select Committee on the FEPP (education) Levy is meeting to discuss 12 amendments to the levy. No votes today, but several interesting proposals will be discussed. I just wrote about this levy and will include a link once I have one.

SPD officially condemning this behavior while tacitly encouraging it is a feature, not a bug. All members of the department's CRG unit share the same personality, and we see it at demos.

Thank god! They still have enough to hang around schools. Unfortunately, not enough to get out of the patrol car and respond to a crisis at an elementary school.
