#CDU und #SPD wollen die Flugindustrie mit Senkungen bei Steuern und bei der Beimischung klimafreundlicher Treibstoffe "wettbewerbsfähig" machen.

Die bereits laufende Bahnsanierung hingegen soll "überprüft" und "angepasst", das D-Ticket teurer werden.
Im Hintergrund zwei Stimmungsbilder aus den Städten Berlin und Marseille. Im Vordergrund zwei Grafiken von Flug- bzw. Zugtickets. Der Flug verbraucht 591kg CO2, hat 0% MwSt. und kostet 44.- Der Zug verbraucht 53kg CO2, hat in D 7% und in F 20% MwSt - je in der billigsten Klasse. Zum Vergleich steht darunter "CO2-Zielwert Person/Jahr laut Umweltbundesamt für Netto-Null: deutlich unter 1000 kg"

A tricky thing about modern society is that no one has any idea when they don’t die.

Like, the number of lives saved by controlling air pollution in America is probably over 200,000 per year, but the number of people who think their life was saved by controlling air pollution is zero.

finished book#3 of the year. jamie wang’s @drjamiew.bsky.social book “reimagining the more-than-human city” in advance of a trip to singapore. a very readable critique of ecomodernist interventions into practices of gardening, zoning, filtering & farming in singapore. can recommend!

okay just finished book#2 of 2025 (won’t be keeping up this pace, no worries). also a strong recommendation! beautiful, slow, poetic: Orbital by Samantha Harvey.

i have taken some time over the break to read Babel by Rebecca E Kuang @rfkuang.bsky.social wonderful worlding, challenging the status quo of colonial infrastructures and extraction, and meditations on translation, and great footnotes for bonus nerding. can recommend!
