This also inspired Death From Above 1979's track "Trainwreck 1979" which is written about this accident.
On Nov. 10, 1979, a 106-car freight train carrying hazardous chemicals derailed and caught fire in Mississauga.
The incident led to the largest evacuation in North American history to that point.
Not a single life was lost.
This is the story of the Mississauga Miracle.

Read the whole thread but the last part of this is terrifying.
Trying to prevent publication of whistleblower information should scare the crap out of everyone.
Journalists have ethics and standards they follow. Publishing things that are verified and have an impact on the public is paramount.

But this lawsuit is so much bigger than me or PressProgress
This lawsuit could have chilling implications for journalism and democracy in Canada
Caylan Ford is also asking the court to protect politicians’ secrets and prevent journalists from reporting on documents leaked by whistleblowers

If they order sandwiches for lunch, does it need to go into discovery?
Defense begins, “This case, ladies and gentlemen, is about a sandwich. A sandwich that according to Agent Lairmore somehow both exploded on his chest in a spray of mustard and onions but also landed intact on the ground still in its Subway wrapper.”

So I went to CNN's result tracker that lists all things being voted on tonight.
I took a scroll and I couldn't find one where the Dems weren't leading (aside from partyless races obviously).
Good job America! Good practice so in a year you can do this again en masse.

Articles that start with "I asked ChatGPT..." Are the worst.
Not only do you tell me you're lazy to do research yourself, you also tell me you blindly trust one source faithfully, and aren't even clever enough to try and make it sound like you did anything but type a prompt.

And most egregious of all, nobody is printing money to pay for deficits. Nobody. There isn't even quantitative easing happening as there was during the height of the pandemic, and the Bank of Canada has been on quantitative tightening since.

"Proud OWNER of Canada's team" really doesn't convey what they think it does.
I don't think you understand that when you make it communal like "Canada's team" but then make your ownership front and centre, it is just a good reminder of how much you control and why we hate Canadian telecoms.

Guys, block the shit out of this and the one in the next post in this thread. Don't let the worst grifters in Canada have any air here.
Once again, it should surprise no one that Ezra Levant tried to sneak in a Rebel News account on Bluesky in a slimy, underhanded way, and hoping no one noticed. Here's account #1 -- the decoy, which is clearly inactive and not being used for anything.

I'm gonna skip over the copper/glass wire stuff (which hurts as an electrical engineer) and jump to the "because we need somebody to blame" at the end.
"I need a scape goat. I won't take any responsibility" is essentially what the president is saying. What a sad excuse for a human.

Trump: "Buttigieg spent billions fixing the air traffic control. They used copper wire going into glass wire. Any union electrician here or any non-union electrician would say you can't hook copper into glass. It doesn't work. They spent billions, turned on the system & it was stone cold blank"

Counterpoint: the level of contempt and disdain you feel is appropriate, it's the fact that it's not universally felt that is unhealthy.
the level of contempt and disdain i feel for these chuds is really unhealthy
Oh man, the New York Young Republicans implicated in the Nazi groupchat scandal ran up a $23,000 tab eating filet mignon and drinking at a hotel in Syracuse -- a city with one of the highest child poverty rates *in the nation* -- and then refused to pay the bill.

It's clear this administration just wants people to kiss the ring and bow down to them.

I was really young and not paying attention but when this guy first got on Oprah wasn't he kinda reasonable? I have vague memories of him using visual aids to help you see sugar or fat content in products and suggesting alternatives for a healthier lifestyle. Under-babied, yikes.
Dr Oz: "Turns out that about 1/3 families don't have the number of babies they desire. They're under-babied. So this president committed to address that during the campaign and he's delivering on that today."

Maybe it's just me but if someone changed their "Department of Defense" to the "Department of War" I don't really think they should ever be considered for a Nobel Peace Prize because they really aren't into the idea of peace.
