New Genevieve tune for you this Halloween! We’ve released a lot of one-offs this year and this is easily the one I’m most proud of. Had an absolute blast making this lush, spooky jam with my best buds. experimentalgenevieve.bandcamp.com/album/the-em...

Abolition is the only way forward. Reform doesn’t work. Accountability doesn’t work. Training doesn’t work. Body cameras don’t work.

Tear it all down and build something better.
I want people to realize prosecuting the police is always a long shot and even when successful that it hasn’t produced any observable change in behavior from the police in general.

That’s so Ravens

Entire Ravens coaching staff needs to go. They were this close to the playoffs simply because they field a handful of generational / all-time greats on both sides of the ball.

Don't forget folks: allowing yourself a vision of the future you'd want for our country and planet - not the one you'd settle for, not the one you fear, but the future of your dreams - isn't naive, it's a vital cognitive skill. That's how we articulate what we most value. What's worth fighting for.
Instead of whatever this is, we should have a government getting lots of new homes and apartments built, lots of clean energy built, lots of high speed rail and transit and bike lanes built, human rights for everyone, economic & healthcare opportunities for all, & innovation that leads the world.

Among the many reasons you don’t kidnap a foreign head of state at gunpoint even if you have the capability, is that it sparks consequences you can neither control nor anticipate.

My wife and I typically hit a movie on the first of the year. This year it was the excellent Marty Supreme.

A ★★★★★ review of Marty Supreme (2025)
Instant classic. If it weren’t for One Battle After Another, this would have been best of 2025. What a freakin film. I am so in love with Chalamet and his increasingly impressive body of work.

My brother and I have watched S1E38 of Batman: The Animated Series, “Christmas with the Joker” every year for the last few decades. It is a perfect tradition.

Folks I’ve spent the majority of my break watching Godzilla films that I’ve never seen before. I highly recommend this experience.

Also follow me on Letterboxd for my film nonsense. boxd.it/4WF8X

Well that was certainly a very Baltimore Ravens game in part of a very Baltimore Ravens football season.

Currently sitting in a mostly empty theater to watch Kill Bill: The Whole
Bloody Affair in 70mm. About to have the most intimate experience with this film I could ever imagine having.

Not sure if this is a hot take, but I’m very comfortable saying that the Baltimore Ravens’ biggest issue is their coaching. They get out coached in every phase of the game every single week. That they have won six games is a testament to the ludicrously talented roster, nothing more.

The vast majority of my students recognize AI as the scam it is. It’s the billionaires and administrators who are pushing it.
Framing GenAI as a battle between teachers and students is a red herring. Students and educators are on the same side. The real opposition are the data extraction firms and brokerages and their allies among the managerial class.

So excited to welcome these hazards to Baltimore!

I could go the rest of my career without people worrying about whether giving students with accommodations extra time for assignments is an unfair advantage.

In my career, every single project--every single one--I've worked on, someone has asked for more time. It has never caused major problems

ILL is absolute sorcery
Not sure if any single part of academia felt more like a weird cheat code than Interlibrary Loan. Like, I just say a book I want, basically any book, and this crack team of experts just *get it*????

I think a lot about all of us who, ten years ago, said things like "I'm worried about X and Y under a Trump presidency," only to be brushed aside and told "X and Y will never happen in the United States! Stop being a baby!"

And here we are, watching X and Y happen.
This OU bullshit, where this trans TA’s job is imperiled because she’s trans, is something I remember trying to explain to cis people I could see on the horizon like… four or five years ago, and no one would believe me, and it turns out now that it’s happening, no one still believes me lol
