Me and my roommate are watching Buffy and Angel right now, and this generally sums up our feelings towards both shows. We’re on season 6 and 3 respectively and Buffy is getting completely insufferable while Angel has been a goddamn blast (deeply dreading season 4)

And by the way we’re still fighting for our land. It’s slow and painful and we’re mostly doing it in the courts, but we’re still doing it, and even working to reestablish communal ownership in some places.

We lost the war, but the fight wasn’t just about reservations and treaties. If it was they wouldn’t have bothered with residential schools. The goal was to “kill the Indian and save the man.” They wanted us, the Lakota people, to not exist, as a race or a culture, and despite everything, they failed

If I grew up in that time, where the continued existence of the Lakota was not a guarantee, and saw that 140 years down the line not only did we still exist but we were still doing powwows and beading and reviving our language, yeah I think I would be okay with that
