This past year, I worked on a few comics and zines I'm proud of :) Newest and most recently published in collaboration with @interruptcrim.bsky.social is a collection of stories by health care workers interrupting criminalization + harm

Story 1: www.interruptingcriminalization.com/resources-al...
BDNH Storytelling Project: Restorative Justice as an Alternative to Firing a Patient — Interrupting Criminalization
In this zine and audio story, a physician in Massachusetts prevents a patient from being dismissed from his practice by implementing a restorative justice process. This story is part of the Beyond Do ...

"poverty cosplay, where such branding does not honor the profession, but mocks it. It treats a caste-coded livelihood as a costume to be worn for commercial authenticity. [..] It is the ultimate act of gentrification, as it steals not just the land, but the very identity of the labor that built it."

My favorite part of zines is that they exist to be shared. You can keep a very few that move you but the rest are supposed to be shared with others (in laundromats, at bus stops, in cafes, at libraries, etc etc etc). To me this very aspect is what distinguishes them from art books.
I have a few difficult problems to solve.

First problem:

What is the context for zines? How are they supposed to exist? Where do you find them, where do you read them once you’ve found them, what do you do with them when you’ve read them?

we haven't been very good about asking for money, but we are a space that is mostly funded by the people who run it (on top of the labor required to keep things running)! if you like what we do, it would mean a lot to us if you helped keep us afloat through a donation :)
Boshi’s, NYC nonprofit games space, is hosting an end of year fundraiser!! Your generous support is greatly appreciated. For more about how, what, when, where, and why, see the link in our bio. We love you!

I made my first zine in 1985, I believe. I’m still making them in 2025, 40 years later. In 1985, it was unfathomable that I would co-organize a Black Zine Fair. I’m excited to share that the 3rd annual Black Zine Fair will take place on May 9, 2026. gogetfunding.com/black-zine-f... - please fund us.

Painting at the children's museum is always fun because one second there's an announcement asking kids to use their "walking" feet, one second there's someone wailing, and another second a group of 20 children are going "wowwwwwwwww😮" because they just learnt it takes 6 years to study paleontology 🦖
