Strangely silent.

This is a really good thread on why these types of accounts exist and what the goal is! Manipulating the temperature of the conversation and setting people on edge serves a *lot* of purposes. #BadActorBingo
So about ten years ago I found a small network of bots on Reddit dedicated to spreading hate. The thing about it is that these weren't even responding to political topics - they were just responding to random keywords with insults and hate.

The same bots are now here. You should understand why. 🧵
this is kind of a niche issue but: if you are getting weird and hostile responses that feel a little off, there are some folks on here making accounts that automatically reply to large quantities of posts in a vaguely hostile manner. you can ignore them, and also, it's not personal

Individual Sphagnum mosses lack structure and are prone to stress and desiccation. As an intertwined community, they fight off massive wildfires and protect the world’s largest soil carbon stock. They also nonchalantly preserve bog bodies.

Learn from Sphagnum. Be the Sphagnum.

Today’s snowshoe trail at 4:11 p.m. Gorgeous, warm. About 10 below. Perfect. A lot brighter in the photo, but look at those blues! #AlaskaSky

This painting took nearly a year to complete. Over that year, the world has seemingly been spinning on an axis that we don’t read about in Astronomy books. Working on this painting was my reminder to hold on to the people and things that slow it all down and bring life back into focus.

Snowshoeing in the dark makes me so happy. Eyes adjusted. Just standing still in knee-deep snow, taking in all the shades of blue. Or knocking the heaviness off the boughs and watching them whip skyward. Joy.

Thrilled beyond measure that @natedimeo.bsky.social’s 1st book landed in my mailbox today! The Memory Palace is my fave podcast. Nate’s voice — both his speaking and his storytelling voice — is? are? utterly distinctive, compelling, musical. If you haven’t yet, go NOW and listen. Then buy the book.
