skeets bilingue si j'ai l'envie/bilingual skeets if I feel like it
Almost dunk quoted on a stranger talking about how she doesn't feel safe enough to walk around with both headphones in. Unsure if this is a stranger danger thing or a traffic safety thing but I'm really glad that I don't feel like this, I enjoy blasting Steely Dan in both ears as I'm out and about

I think it's a sign of maturity that sometimes a post comes across my TL, I think "well, this person is really wrong/a huge asshole/just very much Not For Me", and then I mute them and move on with my life

More observations on Toronto: all cities are dysfunctional in some way or another and the level to which you feel at home in a place depends on how your personal dysfunction aligns with that of the place you live
Observations on wandering around Toronto for the first time in a few years: a lot of things have changed and everything smells bad. The beer is good and there are a lot more blondes than in Montreal. Still love it here, also still glad I moved

Someone in this hotel is presumably in town for an audition because they've been singing "When I am laid in Earth" for like 30 minutes

Current status: stuck in Belleville station waiting for a freight train to pass. No shade to my friends from Belleville, but it's always felt to me like a town an H.P. Lovecraft protagonist would visit to discover the population are all weird fish people

had to go into my daughter's phone to delete her Netflix downloads (I'm going to be on a train today and need to watch the new Frankenstein) and I'm pleased to report that she is, in fact, not too cool to have downloaded both KPop Demon Hunters AND Kpop Demon Hunters: The Singalong

This is a very shallow response to this story, but I am older than Gaetz and I look like 10 years younger. Bad lives and bad consciences, they show in the face
A teenager in Florida with a homeless parent wanted money for braces and ended up having sex for money with powerful men, setting off a chain of events that would have a dramatic impact on her life and help upend the political career of Representative Matt Gaetz. nyti.ms/49PSkL9

Remember 5 years ago when people thought there were coded messages in the Wayfair catalogue so elites could traffick children in giant cabinets? Anyway it turns out they just send emails like "hey it's me, your best buddy Pedophile Jeff, come do sex crimes at my house"

people bitch about woke media but if TOS was on today they would go to a thinly-veiled MAGA planet where the locals worshipped guns and then kirk would hit the orange dictator with a two-fisted karate chop before giving a lecture about how science is real and violence is bad

It's simple, he's a Time Lord and has regenerated. I'm pretty sure the Doctor could regenerate after being blown up
James Bond’s death in No Time to Die is causing a nightmare for the next film. Writers are stuck because Bond “was blown to pieces.”

Anthony Horowitz, author of three 007 novels, says:

“You can't have him wake up in shower and saying it was all a dream."

Another species no longer on the global Endangered list:
Humpback whales (Megaptera novaeangliae).

A few decades after a Star Trek movie where the central conflict was the total extinction of the humpback, their numbers are rising fast enough to put them at "Least Concern" on the IUCN Red List.

Alt: Scotty from Star Trek Original Series (played by Jimmy Doohan) says there be whales here in a Klingon vessel's cargo hold.
