Hoop with a metallic gold wreath partially embroidered in gold thread. The working thread is visible in front of the fabric and is clearly frayed and disintegrating. Ugh

Still want Ms. Piggy's Harris tweed fit-and-flare coat and matching beret. It is too late for fall 2025 but perhaps I will get it together enought to make it for fall 2026
Ms. Piggy in a really fabulous Harris Tweed coat with an oversized collar and matching beret. You can't see it in this shot but elsewhere in the film you can see that the coat is fitted to the waist and has a full maxi-length skirt. It is divine and we all should wear one

Madeleines. These were fussy to make but honestly not very difficult. These have been out of the oven for 10 minutes tops and are already half gone, so they must be good

Tonight's cocktail: the Bermuda Hundred, described in the recipe as "shockingly weird". I wouldn't go that far but I have to say it's the first time I've put Campari and pineapple juice in a cocktail together. Not half bad

Now this apartment is entirely relatable, even though the rent is probably €4000/month. Shifty couches with slipcovers and books piled up on the floor. I have lived in this apartment and still would if I hadn't conned my way into a mortgage 15 years ago

This book is forgiven all of its sins because it contains a recipe for madeleines
A recipe for baking madeleines. I'm very sorry but I'm not transcribing and translating the whole thing. If you're interested, just Google a recipe because they're all pretty much the same. She does recommend chilling the batter in the madeleine molds for 30 minutes before baking, which seems significant

This is a hideous couch for a rich person to have (not Diane, but Arnaud, who does at least seem to have a job and a couple of teenagers. So I suppose I should cut him some slack)
A truly ugly couch, a purplish burgundy with a grid of yellow lines on it. Like the Holodeck in Star Trek when no image is projected, but burgundy and a couch. The rest of the room is nondescriptly ugly, like a lounge of a mid-priced hotel

On a lighter note from just about everything in the world, I found this book at work and it's a collection of the most hateably bougie Parisians posing in their bougie apartments
Book called "Les Parisiens chez eux: l'art de vivre à Paris" (Parisians at home: the art of living in Paris). The cover pictures a slim white woman with blonde hair in a black, flowy jumpsuit, posed in front of some musical instruments and a wall of framed pictures. She looks like your mom's friend's daughter who you always get compared to who married a thoracic surgeon or a day trader or something and has an improbably high number of children for someone who wears a full face of makeup and has a flat stomach. HER husband bought her a big house in a nice neighbourhood and she doesn't have to work! Isn't that nice?
