Hopefully this sparks significant investment into the open source cloud ecosystem, and in particular engineering and infrastructure resources.

AI crawlers are costing open source projects thousands of dollars in infrastructure costs, and frequently bringing everything offline in one massive constant never-ending DDoS. This is not OK!

This is very good: “More and more these days, expertise is scorned and so-called efficiency is prized above all else. But what if — as I am convinced — a fully formed person is not about optimizing productivity but rather about understanding and even embracing the messy inefficiencies of life?”
“I have to wonder what you are saying about your life if even you can’t be bothered to think about it…. To farm out this task, of all tasks, to a machine is deeply disheartening…. it’s a broader degradation of our memories and our humanity.” @tmcallister.bsky.social

This is absurdly great, but I haven't read a single news article about it. A fully open source, offline-first alternative to Notion that's a collab between the French and German governments because they want to host docs securely and on their own terms. THIS is what Europe should be doing.

It takes a lot of time, dedication and effort to maintain a popular open source package. Burnout and lack of financial sustainability are real problems. It takes hours every day/week to review PRs and triage and fix issues reported. It took you 20 seconds to remove the icon from your panel.
