In my interview with @civicusalliance.bsky.social, I discuss the so-called anti-corruption protests in #Albania, the actors behind them, why they have sparked controversy, and what sets them apart from other anti-corruption protests in the #WB6. 👇🏻
ALBANIA: ‘Corruption is a serious problem, but no political force commands enough public trust to unite demands’
CIVICUS discusses recent anti-corruption protests in Albania with Gresa Hasa, a doctoral researcher at the University of Graz and co-founder of the feminist magazine Shota.

I gave a long interview about this topic that will be published soon, but all you need to know about the current anti-corruption protests in 🇦🇱 is that they are largely performative & an attempt of the opposition led by former Prime Minister Sali Berisha to launder his legitimacy and return to power.

What the Epstein files reveal is the depth and scale of this criminal enterprise on an international level, spread like a virus across borders, reaching even peripheral countries like the ones in the Balkans or Central Europe, and public figures one would never have imagined being…

Just a reminder of how spread and deep this evil is. May they all be exposed and rot in jail!

My latest article for @biepag.bsky.social looks into the 56th World Economic Forum at Davos, Switzerland, and the challenges of small countries in the WB6 in navigating power and diplomacy in an era of unstable alliances.

Please, friends. Look on the bright side. And observe how dark it’s getting. 😌

Almost all Jews living within Albania’s borders during the Nazi-German occupation were sheltered and saved by the local population. Albanian citizens risked their lives to protect the “other.” By the end of World War II, there were more Jews in #Albania than there had been before the war.

Today, we remember all the victims murdered during the Holocaust, and we stand with those who survived.

We also mark the 81st anniversary of the liberation of the Nazi concentration and extermination camp Auschwitz-Birkenau.

This dark memory must be passed to future generations.

Never again.

NOT IN MY NAME! ❌

In 1998, Albania signed the Rome Statute (the founding treaty of the International Criminal Court), and in 2003 it officially ratified it.

This is an article I enjoyed writing about the 🇪🇸 cultural magazine A-DESK on feminist Balkan cinematography and women filmmakers. I particularly focused on feminist film production in 🇽🇰, 🇧🇦, 🇷🇸, and 🇦🇱. You can access my full article in English, Spanish and Catalan here: a-desk.org/en/magazine/...

If it looks like fascism, that’s because it probably is. “What would you have done in 1930s Europe?" is not an abstract question but a present test.

It is what it looks like it is: America has a fascism problem.

You may dislike Albin Kurti, disagree with him, or even despise him, but Kurti has a backbone, a quality that most politicians in Kosovo and across the region conspicuously lack. He does not compromise on respect or dignity.

Board of Peace 💣

What did Edi Rama do?

He did not sign the founding statute of Trump’s Board of Peace. He diplomatically accepted and endorsed the invitation and even pushed Parliament to ratify it, but Albania has signed no official agreement.
January 22, 2026 at 5:53 PM
At Trump’s inaugural meeting of the Board of Peace, there was an empty chair: Edi Rama was missing. Instead, he was having dinner with Ivanka Trump in Vlora.

Girl, remember when mamma said not to hang out with the bad guys?! Those *are* the bad guys! 🫣
January 22, 2026 at 11:23 AM
Both Edi Rama’s and Vjosa Osmani’s “enthusiasm” at being personally invited by Donald Trump to join the “Board of Peace” is cringe, to say the least.

He demands #Greenland from #Denmark because #Norway hurt his feelings and they say women in politics are “too emotional.” Excuse moi?! 🤨

Edi Rama can continue posting funeral statements every January 21st, but none of his words erase the fact that 15 years ago, four citizens, four protesters, were killed so that Edi Rama could seize power.

The international order as we have known it has undergone a profound structural shift, and the EU’s response must be anchored in realpolitik: engagement with the world as it is, not as we wish it to be.
