This morning, courageous NIH workers shared a document they are calling the “Bethesda Declaration” with Dr. Bhattacharya, urging him to reverse some of the actions that are badly misaligned with progress toward the NIH mission.

Roundtable this Wed at the US Senate, on how Trump and Musk are killing research like cancer and Alzheimer’s research.

2:30pm Eastern. There is a livestream.

This would be better in primetime and produced for TV, like the Jan 6 Committee did.
But it’s a good start from @baldwin.senate.gov.

This makes my blood boil. What kind of person says they are against access to public education for kids with disabilities?
Jessica: When I hear Republicans out there talking about their plan for education in America, I don't hear them talking about making sure disabled kids have access to a public education.

Greg: Because we're against it.

Nothing will kill more children than the ongoing decimation of CDC, NIH, and USAID work to lift vaccine uptake in the US and world.

Child survival rose 75% in the last 50 years. Vaccines account for 40% of that. Measles vax alone was 60% of the benefit. www.thelancet.com/journals/lan...

Musk reportedly spent $40M on #Superbowl ads calling #USAID wasteful.

Here's how we would've spent that $$:

Purchased HIV treatment from U.S. pharma companies to keep 1M pp alive for 1 year.

So, if we’re serious about keeping research alive, it’s time to push back. Because 15% isn’t just a cut—it’s a death sentence for academic institutions as we know them.

1. Today the NIH director issued a new directive slashing overhead rates to 15%.

I want to provide some context on what that means and why it matters.

🚨RED ALERT for 🧪:

The Trump NIH just gashed indirect costs. This is a direct attack on universities.

“Pursuant to this Supplemental Guidance, there will be a standard rate of 15% across all NIH grants for indirect costs.” 😮

Just a devastating Friday night news dump. #scicomm #academicaky
