I came up as an MMA fan during the GSP era. I remember "grease gate." I remember people clowning on him for getting jabbed up by Jake Shields. I remember being one of the fans who hated him for being a boring decision machine champion. Words cannot describe how much I miss GSP in the current UFC era

This is likely a fight Weili would never win, but I will say the biggest failure of preparation from her camp is not disengaging from the clinch and not scrambling through every single takedown. The only possible way she could have won is getting out of the clinch and relentless scrambling

People are probably going to focus on the size and strength advantage for Val in this fight, but it should be noted that she's running the exact same game she always does. Careful distance management -> wait for her opponent to get frustrated and overextend -> clinch trip takedown -> rinse & repeat

As someone who formed my opinion about Valentina Shevchenko like 10 years ago and hasn't significantly changed it since, it's been very funny to watch the collective MMA community opinion about her swing back and forth so much over that time while she herself basically never changes
