Democrats now is the time to fight for our vision of America in the face of a rising oligarchy, at a time when Billionaires are about to try to take away our health care, pass tax cuts for the mega rich and execute mass deportations that will raise prices for everyone.
@torygavito.bsky.social speaking TRUTH: “In the last 11 months, Donald Trump has done everything but think about Latinos’ interests.” Since Trump took office, Latino unemployment is up, the cost of living is up, health care benefits are down, & the rich are richer. www.politico.com/news/2025/11...
Trump built a surprising voter coalition. One key piece just cracked.
Republicans could not recreate the president's coalition in last week's off-year elections.

As I told @nickvalencianews.bsky.social: Zohran is running a campaign built on authenticity; voters believe he is on their side, & workers believe he cares for them. This is not rocket science, but it matters for Democrats. Do what you say, say what you mean, and fight for what you believe in.

Under Republican governance overall unemployment is up, Latino unemployment is up. And May & June jobs reports are revised down. Next up for MAGA taking away your health care, and rising your electricity cost. Still no plan from stable genius leader to lower costs. www.reuters.com/business/vie...
Instant View: US job growth sharply slows in July, unemployment rate ticks higher
U.S. job growth slower much more than expected in July, and the data from the prior month was revised sharply lower, indicating the labor market could be showing signs of stalling.

The tariffs are modern day taxation without representation.

They benefit the rich and hurt working people.

They are illegal and unconstitutional.

They are wildly unpopular and are driving Trump’s numbers down.

And Democrats should be fighting to repeal them with everything we got.

There is a reason that President Trump's ONLY piece of legislation is stuck in Congress right now, Congressional Republicans are arguing about, HOW MUCH, not if they should cut Medicaid. That ceiling is now at $500 Billion, all to give billionaires tax cuts.

Talked to Politico about President Trump's first hundred days in office, as I said in the piece “Trump has miraculously, in 100 days, taken his two strongest issues and has cratered on them, has destroyed his credibility on the economy and on immigration." Full piece -> tinyurl.com/k47ere46

NEW: Trump's mass deportation scheme is a failure (so far).

ALSO, great quote here from @kramos1841.bsky.social :

"What is remarkable about Trump's first 100 days is that he took the two issues he was strongest on—the economy and immigration—and completely destroyed his credibility on both."
100 Days In, Mass Deportation Is a Failure
Deportation statistics and poll numbers both say so.

If we want to win in 2026 & beyond we have got to understand why Biden voters skipped in 2024. @jenancona.bsky.social from @waytowinus.bsky.social gets it right: “It’s not a question of left versus center, its a question of, ‘Are you going to fight for me, or are you going to fold and capitulate?’
Very important findings on millions of missing Biden voters who skipped 2024. We’ve analyzed voters files in the Sunbelt & conducted focus groups of Biden skippers from critical demographics. READ ALL ABOUT IT in this excellent piece by @tessastuart.bsky.social www.rollingstone.com/politics/pol...

Important analysis from the good folks at @waytowinus.bsky.social: The 2020 Biden voters who skipped ‘24 are crucial to rebuilding a winning Democratic coalition. Base mobilization and swing voter persuasion aren't opposing strategies—they work hand in hand. To win in 2026 we will need both.

Latinos starting to turn on Trump, overall job approval is down. As @simonwdc.bsky.social notes his approval dropped by 25 pt since Jan 20. Whatever gains he made have been erased by a toxic stew of mass deportations, racially profiling American born Latinos and badly hurting the economy.
New Economist/YouGov has Trump at 45%-50% job approval. This is a 5 point drop (!!!) in the last week, 11 since Jan 20th.
Other declines since Inauguration:
18-29 y/o - 9 pt drop, now 44%-48%
Indies - 13 pt drop, now 37%-54%
Hispanics - 25 pt drop, now 31%-61%!!!!!!

Let’s add, “it’s hard to rip the band aid off without getting some blood everywhere,” to the list of tone deaf, comments made by the Trump administrations about an economy in free fall. What makes the comments so infuriating is it’s an acknowledgment that their policies are causing harm to people.
