With our sovereignty and democracy at stake, the subject line of the CPC's latest fundraising email is "Do you want cheaper beer?" Not the Onion. When you've NOTHING of value to offer Canadians, you piggyback off a premier's simplistic, populist ideas (à la buck-a-beer), I guess? PP is the worst.

Mark Carney: "A person who worships at the alter of Trump will kneel before him, not stand up to him. Pierre Poilievre's slogans are not solutions, his anger isn't action, his division isn't strength."

"If a woman doesn't look woman enough to a Republican, they want to be able to inspect your genitals to use a bathroom? It's disgusting.

Everyone should reject it completely... they're endangering women, they're endangering girls of all kind, and everyone should reject it. It's gross." - AOC

The Conservative MP Michelle Ferreri dismissed the school food program as, “not worth the cost to our families and our children.”

With over 3M children in 🇨🇦without nutritious school meals, does she object to feeding children or just object to feeding poor children?

Liberal Party of Canada -
We just announced healthy school meals for 160,000 more kids in Ontario.
Why is Pierre Poilievre against it? #cdnpoli #peipoli

Canadian. Devastated by Disinformation's takeover of America, knowing we're not better or far behind here.
But there remain good things to be done. This week:
- deleted X account (finally)
- canceled WP subscription
- renewed ACLU membership
- saw Springsteen in concert
- came back to Bluesky

I just told my sister she's my hero. She laughed, but I was serious. She lives in a group home. Felt unwell. Asked for a RAT. Staff said no, she didn't need one - "it's just a cold." She insisted. Because she cares about others. RAT was +ve. She's now isolating in her room, protecting others. Hero.

FLU SHOTS IN ONTARIO - I'm sure most people are now aware, but I've been receiving emails today from pharmacies at which I was waitlisted for the flu vaccine. Most are now both booking appointments and doing walk-ins.

My in-laws both have COVID for the first time. Week long stay at an Airbnb with three other couples who pub-crawled. In-laws didn't but, of course, it doesn't matter. EVERYONE got COVID. My son said, "But (grandmother) said she's immune to COVID." ... Me: "Right. Well, we are until we're not."

Anyone else think it's unconscionable for SDM and other big pharmacy chains to be injecting unsuspecting customers, who think they're getting the new XBB vaccine, with the old bivalent vaccine? Along with public health incompetence, corporate greed and professional indifference? Boggles the mind.

Good news! @OttawaHealth is planning to distribute XBB.1.5 #COVID19 mRNA vaccine to community #CovidVaccine providers (that includes family docs!) and OPH clinics in mid/late October. So we can offer it at the same time as flu shots. #Ottawa, let’s have a #Jabapalooza Oct 22nd!

If you know someone booking a COVID vaccine at a pharmacy, have them confirm which vaccine. My friend's mother almost went this week, thinking she'd be given the updated vaccine. I advised them to call. Gov's (and some big pharmacies') intentional failure to communicate to the public is criminal.

O'Toole was not extremist enough for the CPC, so they replaced him with Poilievre. Kenney was not extremist enough for the UCP, so they replaced him with Smith. McCarthy is not extremist enough for House Republicans. I shudder to think who they'd replace him with.
