Back around to tinkering with Orbital. This is the first step of clicking on clusters to 'composite' them into new objects. Clusters are any touching set of 3 or more dust of any tier. It does a simple search to find which cluster has the clicked dust and adds score based on composition.

Links Awakening (1993) on Gameboy is a masterclass in minimalist game design. It does so much with so little, from the items and equipment to the combat, puzzles, and dungeons. This game does more with 512kb than most modern games with 200gb.

I think playing Hytale has made me realise just how incomplete minecraft always has been. I still don't think it's very fun for tools to have durability, like sure craft materials and harvest blocks, make tools a real challenge to advance, but the loop of grinding mats just to make tools is tedious.

So what's the point of all the current unemployment?

Finance desperate to make line go up one more year?
CEO's trying to replace everyone with AI?
Billionaires destroying businesses until only theirs is left?

I'm having trouble following all the layers of corruption.

This is only half the Epstine files. The people they're willing to throw under the bus. Gotta wonder how many active politicians and people in power are now being protected / blackmailed by the other half?

for anyone who hasn't heard of photopea it's nearly feature for feature photoshop in browser, free if you don't mind ads on the side, efficient enough it's even usable in a smartphone browser for making trash meme edits. I stopped recommending GIMP when I saw it bounced so many people into photoshop

A TV show you love with 3 seasons or less 📺

Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell! Magic returns to England during the Napoleonic wars. Two magicians caught up in rivalry, nobility, and the schemes of the fey. Wonderfully grounded and full of trickery. Shame they only did 1 season, but there are books.

I will say, for all the fanfare around Orochi in Okami, Ninetales was a far more interesting and creative opponent than any of the others.

anytime you say a game should have Devil May Cry combat you're thinking of it as a product, not art. anytime you wish a game was open world, or not open world, you're thinking of it as product. and that's the root of the impulse that leads to this kind of ideology about games and remakes and shit

Today's creative block is analysis paralysis over how to name my virtual characters. Human names? Program file types? A combo of stats? A Mac address? Internet usernames?

I like Tron's simplicity but don't want to be derivative.

Really glad I saved this one and watched it, not herd Cory before but I love what he's saying. Post-American Internet, legalize jailbreaking, replacing the corporate garbage with quality and ideals. Love me some hope.

I'll be honest, now seems like a good time to become a dev so you can be hired to fix all the vibe coding.

Sometimes I see Freya post and I'm reminded that I missed out on a lot of maths growing up. Is there a good resource for going over the fundamentals and then expanding into A-Level subjects for adults? Like Algebra, Geometry, Trig.. > Calc, exp/log, polynomials etc.

Doing some writing for my virtual reality setting. Picturing a society of programs that maintain a 'patch' they apply to themselves that makes them extra strong and optimised, less buggy, religiously antiviral. Unsure how to theme them though. First thought is sort of pious eugenicists.

UK PEOPLE: this is REALLY IMPORTANT. If the government bans under-16s from using VPNs, then logically they must intend to REQUIRE AGE VERIFICATION FOR ALL VPN USE. Which will affect adults too!
