Wonderful to see the seminal discoveries of Shimon Sakaguchi, Mary E. Brunkow & Fred Ramsdell recognised with the Nobel Prize. From Sakaguchi’s discovery of Treg cells to the identification of Foxp3, their research opened a new chapter in immunology, viewed from the prism of dominant tolerance.

A small primer on the #NobelPrize awarded to Mary E. Brunkow, Fred Ramsdell and Shimon Sakaguchi today. This prize was for combining two separate fields of immunology research - genetic research on IPEX and immunology research of regulatory T cells (#Tregs), with enormous impact on biology/medicine

I've been incredibly lucky to be supported by the @erc.europa.eu with a Start, Consolidator and now Advanced grant! Each of these awards enabled 'blue skies' research into the immune system, as well as resulting in direct translational impact on patients and via commercialisation. 🥰
📣 Good news: 281 top researchers have just won ERC Advanced Grants!

The new funding, worth nearly €721 million, is part of the 🇪🇺 EU’s #HorizonEurope programme.

Many congratulations to Prof Ashley Moffett on this honour!
This is in recognition of her long and impactful research on the genetics and immunology of maternal and foetal health, especially as related to pre-eclampsia and and the role of NK cells in the development and function of the placenta.
Our very own Professor Ashley Moffett of Reproductive Immunology was awarded the prestigious CMP for Women’s Reproductive Health. The foremost international authority on the immunology of human reproduction, her work has helped explain high rates of pre-eclampsia and maternal mortality in Africa.
