Alright, a reintroduction for those new here...

I'm Kevin! I'm an infusion pharmacy technician living in Boston and originally from New Jersey, and I'm into movies, horror, skiing, history, science, and progressive/liberal politics. I have a movie review blog.

After #PredatorBadlands, Dan Trachtenberg is now three-for-three with Predator movies. Don't let the PG-13 rating fool you, this movie kicks as much ass as the rest. (And Elle Fanning's agent must be fielding a LOT of calls now.)

#REC 4: Apocalypse was a solid sendoff to a fun series of zombie movies. It felt like they were running out of ideas and losing the series' identity, but it was still a fun movie that felt like the finale of a Resident Evil game.

The third #REC film is unfortunately the worst of the bunch. It has its moments, but it tries too hard to be "awesome" and falls flat, and I can only recommend it for series completionists and diehard zombie fans.

Now the spooky season really begins. #REC and its sequel are a pair of damn good found footage zombie movies that deserve the hype, filled with claustrophobic terror and a neat twist on the zombie movie formula.

Review Double Feature: [REC] (2007) and [REC] 2 (2009)
For the first "real" horror movies of this spooky season, I decided to dig back a bit to my teenage years for a film that I'd seen hyped up ...

Starting the spooky season off with the latest Stephen King adaptation, #TheLongWalk. It's not quite a horror movie, but it's still a grueling dystopian thriller that feels like the King version of The Hunger Games in the best way.

A lot of the tech industry’s plutocratic rot isn’t a corruption of the utopian “information wants to be free” ideals of the hacker culture it was built on, but those very ideals taken to their logical conclusion, and that’s a discussion I don’t think a lot of people are ready for.
1/ A longtime Wired editor just wrote a mush-brained essay about how he totally missed the political rot of Silicon Valley (& still doesn't get it).

But in the late 1990s, a Wired journalist warned of a toxic ideology bubbling up from tech. Paulina Borsook has largely been erased. Let's change that

#UntilDawn was a film I'm glad I waited for Netflix to watch, but enjoyed anyway. The story was garbage and had almost nothing to do with the game, but oddly enough, it captured the feeling of PLAYING a video game really well.

I just saw a comment that said "I don't support what happened to Charlie, but Charlie supported what happened to Charlie."

THAT ... that's what I've been trying to put into words.

#KPopDemonHunters is a damn good movie. The plot gets kind of wobbly towards the end, but there's a reason why it took off the way it did. The characters, the visuals, the music, the action, it's all a standout.

#Weapons isn't quite as wild as everybody's made it out to be... but it's still pretty damn wild, and definitely a highlight in a year that's had no shortage of good horror movies. See it, but make sure you go in blind.

Finally got back in the swing of writing these! Unfortunately, it wasn't for a good movie. The new #IKnowWhatYouDidLastSummer is technically the best since the original... but given this series' track record, that's not saying much.

#ClownInACornfield was a fun ride that felt like a less mean-spirited version of Terrifier. The book was better as it often is, but as a pure slasher joy ride, I had a good time with this one.

Second day of the #SalemHorrorFest brought a middling "elevated horror" film that unfortunately exemplified the worst of the genre, and a movie so bad that its title elicits laughter -- and which I had a blast watching.

Finished my review of #DeathOfAUnicorn, a film that should've gotten more love and which I think will be rediscovered as a hidden gem in a few years. It's a simple and fairly shallow monster movie, but it was a damn entertaining one.

The energy around Tesla and Elon Musk right now is starting to resemble the energy around disco in 1979. Overexposure running headfirst into a furious backlash.
