I was refining my process, i.e., working with melted sodium hydroxide being turned at 10A into a sparkler, when the largest spider I have seen ran at me and: I *did not fling any molten sodium in a panic*.

the one time I try to get in on a TikTok cooking trend, all I manage to make is a brittle carbon sponge that hisses and catches fire when I put hydrogen peroxide on it :c stg all these zoomers meming about it on my FYP make obtaining metallic sodium via electrolysis of molten lye look so easy :|

My new hotplate also has a thermometer, which lets me limit the temperature based on readings at the top of the fractionating column, and I think that helped too?
