We've just launched a big update to the #SaveOurSigns project: a revamped website and a public image viewer. So many wonderful people have sent us more than 10,000 images of National Park Service signs that may be under threat. Data download links for each park/site: sites.google.com/umn.edu/save...

Could I just brag about my colleagues for a little bit? In July, librarians at at the University of Minnesota launched Save Our Signs, an effort to preserve interpretive signs at our national parks. So far, they have collected 8,070 images of signs (4 of them my own) from 319 sites!!!

I can't say enough about how much I absolutely love this project, and how proud I am of these librarians. Do you have any photos of signs in your photo library? They are still accepting submissions, and they still don't have any images from 163 national park sites. The have a map of sites remaining.

The National Park Service is being instructed to remove markers that “inappropriately disparage Americans past or living.” Let's preserve those materials before they end up in the dustbin of history. When you visit national parks, please take some pictures and #SaveOurSigns. saveoursigns.org

Fight historical erasure in our national parks, where employees are being directed to remove anything “inappropriately disparage Americans past or living.” #SaveOurSigns and support the rangers who aren’t afraid to tell the truth about the past: saveoursigns.org

So many USians ask me about Canada's health care system; I debunk so many myths. This graph helps.

As the obit notes, Bill Leuchtenburg was one of several historians who took part in the Selma-to-Montgomery March. That's him on the right. (Others IDed in Alt Text)
