Men in balaclavas set fire to a mosque in East Sussex last night. It's only appearing on the BBC's local coverage, rather than its main national headlines, despite coming just a week after the (also under-reported) firebombing of an asylum hotel in London last week

Peacehaven: Fire at East Sussex mosque probed as 'hate crime'

Six weeks ago, I picked up a year-old tawny owl with a broken leg off the main road near our home and dropped him off at our nearest vet.

After a few days, I received one of the most bizarre phone calls I’ve ever had, asking “So when are you coming to pick up your owl?” 🧵

You reap what you sow. Lots of work to do. Not good enough in any area of the pitch. Oh well, little break and then on we go. Up the reds.

It is just about conceivable that a tiny number of the people publicly supporting Lucy Connolly think she said something despicable but was punished too harshly for it.

But the vast majority simply want to use her case to further mainstream their aggressively racist anti-immigrant views.

When Bury went under, everyone agreed this must never happen again.

Six years on, and less than a week after the Football Regulator Bill was signed into law, and it's about to happen again.
Morecambe's final pre-season friendly was supposed to be tomorrow against Lancaster City. It has now been cancelled, which means Morecambe may already have played their last game.

Since I first learned the heartbreaking news of Diogo Jota's tragic death yesterday I've been emotionally bereft. However, this gorgeous slice of summer love from @sensesforever.bsky.social has gone some way to putting a smile back on my face and some joy in my heart. Can't wait to hear the album.
😎☀️Who’s up for some summer vibes?!

We’ve decided to drop one more track before the album in ONE WEEK! Feat. amazing Denise Johnson-esque vox by Ange McGrath – your summer soundtrack. ‘Call Me Out’ on streaming today.

Enjoy!

Beautifully poignant piece by @tonyevans92a.bsky.social , who once again manages to find the words that sum up how so many of us are feeling after yesterday's devastating news. Look after each other.
💔 “He will never grow old, but we’ll never forget him.”

A powerful tribute to Diogo Jota by @tonyevans92a.bsky.social - on grief, memory, and what it means to be part of #LFC.

Obviously I never met Diogo Jota. But you sing somebody's name week in, week out in the stands, you watch them do what they do, and you develop a relationship of a kind. At least with what they stand for there.

Diogo has given us so many moments of joy. It's so so tragic.

His poor family.

I'm a day or so late with this as I have already seen some, but just a note FAO members of the right wing commentariat preparing their excoriating pieces on the "mass gathering of the woke liberal elite": nobody - literally nobody - gives a shit what you think about Glastonbury.

Liverpool, as champions, selling their fourth choice centre back but are relaxed about bringing in a replacement because they feel they have adequate cover if the right targets aren't available? What could possibly go wrong? 🤔
