He's insane, you know. Perhaps it's dementia. Perhaps it's heavy metal poisoning. But he's absolutely batshit. Pretty wild that Republican lawmakers don't care even a little!
Trump posts that he’s “Acting President of Venezuela”

She's right you know
The third possibility is the man at the top is batshit crazy and the people around him mostly go along because they just want power,
Many are arguing that they wouldn't be acting this way if they thought they were subject to free & fair elections.

Plausible. But another explanation is that they see the writing on the wall--generational backlash--and they're attempting increasingly desparate hail marys

trump has dementia and it's getting worse every day.

The GOP reps that criticize trump (Massie, MTG except she quits in 2 days) for his illegal wars need to vote to impeach trump, they can't accept these crimes as a price for all the stuff they like.

After reading about this guy, I still wonder which is most apt:

-Barroom savant, telling you (before you can escape) how things "really" are;
-College roommate who has read Atlas Shrugged over the summer;
-"Stupid person's idea of a smart person."

But it's at least one of those.

I was there, in the 90s, the boomers were giving out the participation trophies to their kids. I was the only boomer I knew complaining about that. I hated it.
Boomers: It just sucks so much that everyone gets participation trophies now, you used to have to show real merit to get an award

Also Boomers:
this shit is just beyond parody, man

and I doubt his vote was influenced by Nuzzi's article on RFK.

It's entertaining for someone who is not in journalism/media/whatever to watch journalists wringing their hands over two of their own doing on an individual scale what their employers have been doing on a much larger scale for some time now.

Mamdani should tell trump privately that he wants to provide a subsidy for businesses by making public transportation free, it helps them get employees who will work for less because they live farther away, and it reduces traffic for wealthy people because there will be less cars.

a brand that wants to be interesting, & attention is the only currency that matters - that sounds like the NYT, WaPo, CNN, most of the national media.
"She’s not trying to rebuild her reputation as a journalist—she’s building a different kind of brand entirely, one where being interesting matters more than being ethical, where attention is the only currency that still spends."

The best thing I have read about her. www.mediaite.com/opinion/the-...
The Olivia Nuzzi Comeback Is Everything Wrong With Modern Media
Olivia Nuzzi’s comeback isn’t a personal scandal story—it’s proof that today’s media rewards access, personality, and controversy more than ethics.

I've seen ads for @ezraklein.bsky.social talk in #SantaBarbara in a couple weeks, he's going to talk about "why we're divided". We're divided because one side lets a nazi dictator do whatever he wants. There is no reason to hear him say anything else.

Boycotts are consumers' best political weapon, but they are apparently too inconvenient for most people. If you think they don't work, see Kimmel vs. Disney.

I wonder if any people in the US are willing to boycott US businesses that make money in Saudi Arabia.

ICE under trump has killed people, illegally imprisoned them for months, & treated them inhumanely, but I don't see anyone boycotting the corps that fund trump, let alone do business in the US.

also, screenshotting a bluesky post wastes your time and everyone who wants to see the post. I get why people don't want to link to x, but we're already here.
Please - stop doing the screenshot no link thing on Bluesky. This platform does not punish you for posting a URL. You picked up the habit from Meta apps? Stop doing Mark Z's bidding. Link ESPECIALLY to authors, reporters, bloggers, etc. where you quote the work.

is the cecily strong you don't want to start a converstaion with SNL news character based on McEnany?
Kayleigh McEnany on Jimmy Kimmel's suspension: "For all the concern about the 'the First Amendment, the First Amendment,' what about all the amendments that Charlie Kirk lost? Because Charlie Kirk has no amendments right now. None."
