doomers: there’s not going to be elections in America ever again

me: if they can’t even cancel an entertainer due to popular pushback what the fuck makes you think they can cancel elections

This post that a friend of my partner's shared on FB potentially explains the Kristin Chenoweth thing, and is frightening.

It's profoundly saddening to read that AP will no longer be assigning or running book reviews because readers don't engage with them enough and they take too much effort to plan and assign. People complain about critics as gatekeepers; wait until all that's left is marketing.

Thumbs up to @kermichele.bsky.social’s book about emotional fulfillment and a ghost, House of Beth.

It’s a good book with an accurate title - there is a house and a Beth.

why is this mayoral election different than all other mayoral elections?

in all other mayoral elections, we get to see andrew cuomo lose but once. but in this mayoral elections, we get to see him lose *twice*.

I am grieving the barbarism that is going to unfurl from all this. People are going to die. Livelihoods gone. All to feed a corrupt kleptocracy.

I see every day up close how different it is from the first time around. There are no guardrails. A disaster. I’m sorry we have to live through this.
