Associate Professor of History. Historian of Booker T. Washington, the Black Diaspora, & Empire. Penn State and K-State alum. Proud Californian. Cat dad. Views are my own.
Just finished up 6 weeks of subbing for a college level course at the local high school and what a fantastic group of young students. They were eager, fun, and an absolute joy to get to teach.

Chris Paul retiring at the end of the season. A very interesting career but a legend nonetheless.

This was an excellent choice this week @herberthistory.bsky.social . I got so wrapped up in the movie I forgot to post haha. I think of this movie which came out in 2021 and Till (2022) are two powerhouse movies that deserve(d) way more attention. #HATM

This is far worse than anyone expected.

Trump's HUD plan would cut *two-thirds* of permanent housing and push as many as 170,000 formerly homeless people back onto the street—redirecting funds to work mandates, forced treatment, and encampment sweeps.

All as mass internment camps are being built.

This was my first SHA conference. It was incredible. St. Pete Beach was wonderful. The Conference was spectacular. I learned so much, met some wonderful people, and heard some wonderful talks. My panel and the audience were great. I return home feeling inspired. Looking forward to the next SHA.

I love people watching at the airport. There's a guy with spiked hair like it's 1999, a Wish version of Topanga, and a kid in a fedora. Incredible stuff.

-Battleground Africa by Lise Namikas
-The Assassination of Lumumba by Ludo De Witte
