Set aside, for the moment, Jeffrey Epstein’s appalling criminality.

Even if these communications had been with an entirely uncontroversial Wall Street executive, Lord Mandelson's behaviour would still be scandalous.

New Epstein emails show Peter Mandelson secretly advising JPMorgan’s CEO on how to fight Labour’s 2009 bankers’ bonus tax - even suggesting he “mildly threaten” the Chancellor.

Mandelson was Business Secretary at the time.

A year later, he was seeking work with JPM.

Clean power is the route to energy security, jobs and billpayers protected from volatile fossil fuel markets.

It is an opportunity for all of Europe, and Britain is doubling down:
OPINION: By accelerating our drive to clean energy, today’s North Sea Summit will be fundamental in delivering the energy security and prosperity Europe desperately needs.
Miliband and Jørgensen: Clean energy is Europe’s only route to security and prosperity

Ah yes, Stalinism - where famously everything is on your doorstep and life is happier and more convenient and you don't have to waste whole years of your life in a car, polluting the environment.

Absolutely, that was what Stalinism was all about.

Reality: UK oil & gas production is already in steep decline and is projected to fall ~90% by 2050.

Some perspective: The S&P opened down -1.3% on Trump's Greenland saber-rattling. That's $750 billion of wealth destroyed -- roughly equal to estimates of the value of Greenland.

And so ~in dollar terms~ his shenanigans have already cost the US one Greenland, and we've got nothing to show for it.

⚡🏭 The UK government can’t keep ignoring the environmental impact of data centres.

Data centre energy demand is rapidly rising, putting growing pressure on electricity grids and undermining the UK’s decarbonisation plans.

In 1916, the US was worried that Germany might take control of the Danish West Indies to use as a submarine base. So, Denmark sold the Danish West Indies to the USA, with the colony becoming the US Virgin Islands. In exchange, the USA acknowledged Denmark's complete sovereignty over Greenland.

Labour have secured a record breaking 8.4GW of additional offshore wind capacity.

The auction is the biggest in European history, with long term prices secured at about 20% lower than the maximum.

The sites, off England, Scotland and Wales, are enough to power 12 million homes!

A lot to be optimistic about in the role of battery storage helping displace fossil fuels - including gas - in cheaper, more secure, sustainable, balanced and flexible energy systems around the world.
