This is a genuinely huge, sweeping victory today for the University of California—or rather, for us, its faculty, acting through our faculty associations, while the UC itself maintained a strict policy of deer-in-headlights silence.

Reporter: Trump argued that other countries are going to pay the brunt of the tariffs, but recent research finds the exact opposite. The cost of Trump's tariffs per household was $1,000 last year, and they're seeing an increase this year to $1,300.

They All Hate Each Other and None of Them Can Read is going on the cover of my journal for this year
It's not a new observation at this point but that wild Noem/Lewandowski story in WSJ really brings home the extent to which all the Trump 2 cabinet-level goblins see their jobs as flying private, doing short-form video, and screaming at underlings. They all hate each other and none of them can read.

Jay Bhattacharya says if lots of people believe something, the NIH has a duty to study it

In this 2023 national US survey, 69% of Americans believed in angels, 56% in the devil, & 34% in astrology (www.pbs.org/newshour/nat...)

My primary fitness takeaway from this cruise is that I should hire a spry fast walking person in their 70s to walk in front of me, just ahead of my max pace on a track, because there ain’t nothing more motivating than having your ass whooped by someone 20 years older than you.

Pausing from all the actual problems in the world for a minute: why don’t all major cruise lines have a Cruise Dogs squad, and allow passengers to hang out with pups in some areas? Yeah there’s some logistics, but they allow plenty of logistical problems on these ships, all of which are human.

Dear diary, roving gangs of thugs are tear-gassing the children and executing the adults, and the democratic party’s leadership is somehow NOT saying we should get rid of the gangs of thugs. Why is it such a scary idea that we could just not have roving gangs of thugs.
