If the Browns could find an ounce of camp within themselves they could be a team I’d love to watch.

I didn’t know Alice well or personally, but we both wrote for Racialicious back in the day and so I have always been aware of her vital disability advocacy work. She was always kind and so brilliant. This is sad news to wake to; those close with her are in my thoughts this morning.

That Tomono quad toe was scary (complimentary) huge.

Skating to Kanye West during an Olympic Season is certainly a choice in a subjective sport where one needs good will from both the audience and judges 🫠

A cool thing I just discovered is that on a prominent family of sites I used to write essays and reviews for quite often, my work is all still up (yay!) but my byline has been replaced with the name and picture of a white woman (sick!), so that's cool!

Taking me forever to read this very short memoir because, well, baby. But I’ve been annotating too and a rabbit hole I’d like to go down once I’m back on Mat leave is finding some contemporary articles recounting the riot like protests that followed her performances around Eastern Europe.
I started reading the reissued Josephine Baker memoir this morning. It’s written as dictated, in part w/ an interpreter until she learned French. It’s almost just stream of consciousness at times, so a very unique read. I can’t say it’s well written? But it is absolutely fascinating and captivating.

You ever think about the influx of people using medications that require at home injections and the number of those people who are probably *not* doing proper needle disposal? I hadn’t either, but then I considered it and now I am haunted.

Watching this audience try and find the beat of Yuma’s weird ass Stevie remix… 🥴

(Watching replays days late, as usual.)

Now that I am home safely and the flight was mostly uneventful I can say that for an anxiety ridden shitty flyer like myself (my body is still currently loaded up on Xanax) seeing a full figure skating team board your flight is maybe one of the most nerve wracking things that can happen.

Lol so many interesting folks on this flight to LAX, including the Skyliners Synchro Skating team who I did clock immediately. Wishing them all the best of luck at the Fall Classic in Irvine this weekend ❤️

"There are no longer any Black women working at Teen Vogue."

Damn, what a coincidence. All these news orgs keep laying off the same types of people while a bilious, rapey, leather-faced buffoon provides them cover and shakes them down for money to build a library named for a man who does not read.
thank you for all the support; the statement from our union is now live here with some more reporting.

now that this is public I can confirm that the majority of today’s layoffs were women of color. there are no longer any Black women working at Teen Vogue.

Okay my videos from this auction are all very bad (and as soon as a $360k canary yellow diamond ring came up they switched to photos only hahaha) so not much to share but for someone who watches Antiques Roadshow weekly that was a full ass delight.

Skater or not, I will be upset if my kid can’t identify a proper lutz entry. I’ve been lecturing him about it through two seasons now and he’s only 8 months old.

I got lowkey very into baseball again this season. Still very Cubs focused but I think I watched more across leagues this summer than I’ve watched since 2020, so was more of a birdseye view. Excited for Game 7 tonight tho so that I can shift focus entirely to skating as of tomorrow.

Idk how many Eteri jump scares I can take leading up to this Olympics.

Honestly a jump scare every time I remind myself that Lil Wayne and I are not even 10 years apart in age.

My dude is such a great husband and father and yet sometimes I do find myself saying sentences like, “We cannot play musical instruments in the apartment after the baby has been put to sleep!!!”
