1. Trump has no mandate. It was a very close election in terms of vote totals, despite the EC margin.
2. Trump doesn't give af now about what those who voted for him think. They served their purpose for him. He no longer needs or cares about them. They're too obtuse to understand that.

This really needs to be stressed, as it seems obvious Trump is going to let them vote to release it and then pretend his hands are tied.

The second paragraph of every article about Trump freeing House Republicans to vote to release the Epstein files should make it clear that he could order them released himself and chooses not to.

What am I missing here? If Trump is all in favor of releasing the files, there's no need for the legislation--he can simply direct the AG to do so. How can the public reporting of this story not lead with this?
