President of the Human Rights Campaign. Black, queer, mom, advocating for liberation — without exception. 👊🏾
Being the President of @hrc.org is one of my greatest honors, but no honor is more important to me than being the wife of Becky George and the mother to our children.

The foundation of our democracy rests on inclusive representation and everyone having equal access to the ballot box. The VRA opened doors for millions of Americans, particularly Black Americans, to have their voices heard. We'll never stop fighting, alongside our partners, to protect our freedom.
And that’s a wrap! After two hours of argument, @janainelson.bsky.social, our clients, and legal team joined our rally on the steps of SCOTUS to urge the justices to protect the VRA & rights of voters across the country!

All of us at @hrc.org feel a profound sense of loss at the passing of Miss Major Griffin-Gracy. Sending our deepest love and sympathies to those who survive her, including her partner, Beck Witt Major, and her five children.
We remember trans icon and civil rights advocate Miss Major Griffin-Gracy. A pillar in our community, Miss Major's lifetime of challenging work fundamentally changed and improved the lives of so many — especially Black trans women.

This administration continues to abuse its power to make life harder for Americans—from attacking our health care and eroding public education to undermining our freedom of speech and trust in our government at large. No one should be able to silence those who disagree with them.

Trey Reed lit up a room when he walked in. He was a Black student at Delta State, and family and friends say he was a kind soul with a bright future. We know the generational history of racial violence in Mississippi and at Delta State. A full investigation must be followed — full stop.

No one deserves the violence and dehumanization Alice Correia Barbosa endured at the hands of the federal government. And we know targeting immigrants and LGBTQ+ people are not unrelated. It’s all part of Donald Trump’s coordinated attack on liberty and justice.

As a mom who just sent little ones back to school and as a woman of faith, I am devastated that yet again children are dead and more are fighting for their lives after being gunned down at a church and school. How many more of our babies must die before Congress gets weapons of war off our streets?

Every child should be safe in their communities, free from gun violence. As a mom and a person of faith, I'm heartbroken for these families and I'm furious that this carnage continues in America. Our hearts are with the victims and we demand that lawmakers take commonsense action to end this horror.
Enough is enough. Our children deserve to live freely and safely in their schools and places of worship without the threat of gun violence. Our hearts are with the entire Minneapolis community as they grapple with this horrific act of mass gun violence.

@hrc.org is hitting the road to share stories that expose the truth, affirm life, and demand justice. Stories like a worsening public health crisis in Ohio following last year's state ban on health care for trans youth.

This week, we kicked off our American Dreams Tour in Columbus.
As the American Dreams Tour begins in Columbus, we are spotlighting the attacks on health care access in Ohio.

As @equitas-health.bsky.social President & CEO, David Ernesto Munar, and HRC’s own @kelleyjrobinson.bsky.social write, when access to care becomes a political weapon, EVERYONE loses.

Across the country legislation targeting the rights, dignity, and healthcare access of our communities is advancing at an alarming pace.

Our community lost a giant this week. May Andrea's legacy continue guiding us forward with compassion, resilience, and hope. Rest in power.
Andrea Gibson was an iconic weaver of words and fierce advocate for our community through their works. Our hearts go out to their family and friends. Rest In Power.
Andrea Gibson, a master of spoken-word poetry who cultivated legions of admirers with intensely personal, often political works exploring gender, love and a personal four-year fight with terminal ovarian cancer, has died at 49.

@lambdalegalceo.bsky.social is spot on. Where would we be had our ancestors waited until the time was "right" to demand their civil liberties?

We must carry their fight forward — now. Our communities deserve it and the moment demands it.
"If history teaches us anything, it is that you can’t wait until the U.S. is “ready” for civil rights: You must advocate, educate and litigate to help the country get ready... You choose cases based on whether they’re right — not whether they are popular. That’s how you create change."

Opinion | History shows there is no ‘right time’ for civil rights litigation
Critics are wrong to argue that a trans rights case was brought to the Supreme Court prematurely.
