Oh no! The sudden noises outside weren't for nothing. The FedEx truck fell into the ditch. On a totally normal, dry day with no water, snow or ice on the ground. I drive up that hill every day and I don't get it. How did they do that?

Tesla employees passed around photos of the insides of customers' garages, footage of what they were doing inside/near their cars. The cars were OFF at the time, a nude Tesla driver walking past their car in the privacy of their own garage became a Tesla office meme

Definitely seeing bird flu. Rehabbers in Oregon are NOT ALLOWED to take duck or geese per ODFW due to how contagious it is. Dove Lewis may take for euthanasia, but pls call them to confirm before handling any birds. And do NOT take inside the hospital. Staff likely to meet you outside.
PROBABLE H5N1 outbreak in Hillsboro area, multiple places are reporting sick/dying/dead geese.

DO NOT TOUCH THEM. Report any sick/dying/dead geese here.

This is my thing too. How has her legend not spread across the internet entire? If they remade Princess Bride today, Vinzini would swap out his rule about land wars for "Never assume @gailsimone.bsky.social is speaking from ignorance on social media!".
It is so wild to me that after all these years, there are still angry nerds who don't get Gail's bit
I made a joke about Canada not having superheroes on Threads and it's been two solid days of Canadians yelling at me.

Also, it turns out that the Canadians yelling at me about comics don't actually seem to know anything about comics.

I went away for a day and they're still going.

It's official: Katie Wilson is the next mayor of Seattle!
Katie Wilson Is Seattle’s Next Mayor
Somewhere, Bruce Harrell is slamming a table. Katie Wilson is up by 1,976 votes and 0.72 percent of the vote. It’s tight, but we’re outside of recount territory, and it’s mathematica...

Holy shit, just learned about the typewriter art of Montserrat Alberich Escardívol, a Catalan typist. Using an extra wide typewriter and 180 color ribbons, she built up elaborate images from simple characters like 'm' and '.' and ';'. Here is her typewritten painting of the Cathedral of Barcelona.

You should know the details of this historic and horrible Supreme Court case, written by famously evil justice Scalia. They spelled it out. The police have NO obligation to protect anyone's life or health.

Why should the institution of policing continue to exist?
In 1999, a woman named Jessica Gonzales sought and obtained an order of protection against her physically abusive husband ("AH"), who had repeatedly threatened to kill her and their three children. The order included language specifically limiting when and where AH was allowed to see the children.

“You can’t be mad at Democrats for not fighting because they’re the only thing we have to fight fascism” is an interesting political philosophy that I would like to unpack, not in the sense of giving it further examination, but in the sense of throwing it out the back window.

Wild to think this city could soon have a better person as its mayor than a guy who once pulled a gun on a couple over a disputed spot in the parking lot of a riverboat casino in Iowa, better things really are possible
Katie Wilson is now almost certainly Seattle's 58th mayor. We spoke just now: "We’re going to wait for all of the ballots to be counted, but I think we won this race." www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news...

if you voted in Seattle you gotta make sure your ballot counted now
There are 1,700 ballots that need signature confirmation. That is enough to change the election.

Go. Check. Your. Ballot.

Ok I had no idea the Edmund Fitzgerald was a contemporary thing for the song, this is like his Toby Keith 9/11 song but about transporting taconite pellets

Twenty-nine sailors drowned when the Edmund Fitzgerald went down in the Great Lakes' icy waters on Nov. 10, 1975. The ship was immortalized in a surprise hit 1976 folk ballad by Gordon Lightfoot.
