Sigh. How do we improve education if we can’t measure achievement gains/losses?
Hearing that nearly all the employees in the statistics agency inside the Education Department -- NCES (National Center for Education Statistics) -- have lost their jobs. Rumors that the NAEP test -- the nation's report card -- will no longer be run by NCES. This info is not confirmed.

Republicans snuck a provision into the rule for the CR that would preemptively surrender congressional authority to block tariffs.

When House Republicans vote for this rule today, they will also be voting to support Trump's tariffs and all the resulting damage to the US economy

A new era of government censorship has begun.
It started with the silencing of scientific speech, when the admin blocked release of research on bird flu. But MAGA has also cracked down on other wrongthink—on race, geography (!), and of course Trump himself

Transgender: 1 percent

Muslim: 1 percent

Jewish: 2 percent

Black: 12 percent

Gay or lesbian: 3 percent"

If they're this divorced from reality I guarantee these folks cannot conceive magnitude of $1bn
“In 2022, YouGov asked “What percentage of Americans do you think are ___?”

The results were hilarious.

Trans: 21%
Muslim: 27%
Jewish: 30%
Black: 41%
Live in NYC: 30%
Gay or lesbian: 30%

The errors are off by orders of magnitude. The trans estimation by 2,000%.”

Since the only thing we know about McMahon's ed policy positions is her support of short-term Pell, this recent report from the Dept. of Ed on their experiment with the program is timely.

tl;dr: Enrollment and completion increased but not employment or earnings in medium to long term

That would be an enormous setback for labor groups…and a win for companies…trying to keep unions out of their workplaces.”
