Detroit Three supplier closing factory and cutting 133 jobs
Autokiniton will permanently close its facility in Detroit and lay off 133 people. It's the latest metals supplier in Michigan to idle production.

My ideal Washington tax system:

– LVT instead of property tax, with no 1% cap
– much lower sales tax and B&O tax
– modest progressive income tax
– capital gains tax similar to Idaho’s
– tax on VMT
– eliminate junk government fees
And yet progressive activists aren’t willing to have a conversation about reforming our broken tax code.

It’s not enough to say “we need to raise taxes on the rich.”

We need to fundamentally change our tax system. Some taxes should go up. Some taxes should go down. But no one is doing that work!
Trump 2.0 has really exposed how brittle and broken the West Coast states' tax systems are. WA, OR, and CA all have a 1% property tax cap. WA has a sales tax but no income tax; OR has an income tax but no sales tax. It is not possible to effectively resist Trump without fixing these tax systems.

We have polling showing Kathy Hochul’s approval rating in New York up 15 points since she adopted a more aggressive anti-Trump frame.

Gavin Newsom’s approval rating is up 8 points since he started pushing back more forcefully against Republican attacks.

The message for Dems is clear: FIGHT BACK.

Expansion of humanitarian assistance won't help when there's a blockade. This is a manufactured famine. This is genocide.
People are dying of starvation in Gaza. The President needs to advocate for a massive expansion of humanitarian assistance.

This cannot continue.

I joined my Senate colleagues to say: Return the hostages, end the fighting, and bring relief to the people of Gaza.

Visiting home, the economic ramifications of the Trump regime is apparent. One steel mill closed entirely, another closed 2/3rds of its buildings, laying off 900 workers. Due to tariff uncertainty, a semiconductor plant opening was canceled, costing Michigan 10,000 jobs. Under Trump, we all suffer.

As far as I understand, this goes through the House Housing Committee:
Chair: Strom Peterson (360) 786-7950
Vice Chair: Natasha Hill (360) 786-7888
Vice Chair: Adison Richards (360) 786-7964
Very much looking forward to next WA leg session so we can get SB 5156 passed. It had landslide support in the Senate but struggled in the House.

I don’t think anyone is prepared for what they just did w/ ICE.

This is not a simple budget increase. It is an explosion - making ICE bigger than the FBI, US Bureau of Prisons, DEA,& others combined.

It is setting up to make what’s happening now look like child’s play. And people are disappearing.

Republicans chose to release the text of their Big Ugly bill late last night.

They’re trying to pass the largest cuts to health care in history late on a Saturday.

So Democrats are forcing the entirety of the bill to be read on the Senate floor.

We won’t let them hide.

I recently tabled for a banner signing station. For as much flack as gen alpha gets, I was so impressed by the kid's responses to the prompt to write about what's important to them. The responses included LGBTQ rights, noise pollution, drawings against cutting down trees, and more. Gives me hope 💓

Spokane City Council wants to claim ignorance but how many of them actually did their job and reached out to people that were at the protest? I for one never received a reply from Zach Zappone. They all then proceeded to vote yes. Maybe don't vote yes if you don't have all the information?

Trump is sending ICE to blue cities to enact the "largest mass deportation program in history" and Chicago is at the top of the list.

I'm calling for every Democratic leader and candidate to stand against ICE, to call for its abolition, and to materially support immigrants.

Inaction is complicity.
