I've watched thousands of videos from the Jan. 6 riot as part of NPR's reporting and archive project on that day.

Here are some of the lesser known videos that have really stuck with me.

Editors have a really hard job, and the good ones can make something unreadable readable, and the great ones can make something unreadable into something good. But they're basically invisible, until someone tries to write without one.

Some people think science is just for nerds, but science is the foundation of the modern world and science is what made America great.

Even though many of us don’t work directly in space science, we were inspired to become scientists by NASA. Destroying it makes zero sense.

Great reporting, @mjgault.bsky.social Map validates lived experience tidbit: ppl in area where my parents live are blaming ~dozen electric Amazon delivery vehicles for increasing regional utility rates, not the *gigantic* Anthropic-Amazon data center nearby (751 MW)...
From Meta to Google to xAI, a team of researchers are using open-source intelligence to map the growth of America’s AI datacenters. @evystadium.bsky.social breaks down how Epoch AI’s map works.

DMV residents - did you witness this? want to correct the media record with additional receipts re: treatment of this permanent resident #ICE #DC #MD #VA
Bit of a wild story. Hearing this second hand, but buckle up.

ICE attempted to pull a Kavanaugh stop last night (Christmas Eve), pulling over my mom’s boss (an LPR). He proved his immigration status, but they decided to go after the coworker he was with instead. It gets wilder from here… 1/

@standupforscience.bsky.social appreciation thread
Science Fight Club is important and necessary for two reasons:

1. Science has become incredibly political, as identity politics took over ALL politics.

2. Scientific institutions don't typically "fight"
and look where that got us. 🧪
It's Festivus, so I'm going to air some grievances.

1. If you're going to write a year end story about how scientists responded to authoritarianism and *NOT* include @standupforscience.bsky.social in the write up or cite that the photo you used as your header is from one of our rallies...that's bs.
