Northern lights from my building’s rooftop in downtown Minneapolis

This is a long shot but does anyone have any idea what the 3 hour drum-line-sounding event was in downtown Minneapolis tonight around the Commons / Mill District area? I cannot find *anything* about any kind of event to explain it.

Minnesota Twitter / BlueSky community, I know a number of you were mutuals with Amber over the years. I’m sorry to have to share this news.
She was a lovely human who I considered a friend for over a decade thanks to this silly little thing called social media. ♥️
With great sadness, I must share that our beautiful @aschmugge.bsky.social passed away the evening of February 6th. Her sister, Kim, asked me me to let her friends know, especially those she knew online.

Last night I dreamt that I walked in a polluted creek, saw 8 tornados on the horizon, and that my building was hit by a bomb. Literally woke up with the image of a ball of flames climbing up the stairwell I was descending.

So the stress dreams about ::gestures vaguely:: all this have started.

Called my reps. Posted on FB & Insta with links asking others to do the same. Joined an organizing call.
Then saw *new* awful news, and have spent the last hour or so just watching some dude whose whole account is mowing lawns for free to help people.
Look we all gotta do self care in our own ways.

As corporations fall in line, recognize they never held these principles in the first place. They were marketing strategies and protections against lawsuits or boycotts.

We have to move beyond looking for businesses to fight for us and recognize we’re in a class war and have to fight for ourselves.

@maxwellfrost.bsky.social Thank you for your messaging against the dangerous “Protection” of Women and Girls in Sports Act. Your work resulted in a unified Dem push against the legislation and we need more of this. Keep it up!

How do I get my very curated Threads “For You” content here? Cuz that’s the only thing that’s working for me right now. The rest is too much noise.

I loved this book so much and highly recommend. I was so sad that it was a standalone. I want more time with all the characters.

New Orleans. My love of French stuff, vampires, architecture and food already has me convinced.
Forget about cities you’ve visited and loved. I want to know what your favorite US city you’ve never been to is. What city exists for you only as a perfect dream unsullied by experience

Cincinnati. Walkability, food, architecture & public art are all fabulous.
And there’s a little place called Iris Book Cafe where you can sit in a quiet courtyard under magnolia trees & read for however long you please, while enjoying their coffee, cold brews, teas & food offerings.

It was very kind of my Trader Joe’s check out person to have confidence that I would be making curry paste from scratch but I am here to assure all of you that I am not willing to expend that much energy in my cooking. I’m pro short-cuts, thank you.

Went to tip in my Target app for a Shipt order and selected custom amount to provide greater than 20% since it’s Black Friday weekend.
Then my finger accidentally grazed the 10% spot as I was selecting positive feedback for my shopper & I hit submit before I realized it.

Be sure and check in with your neurodivergent people today. Or at least try and give them some space. The next month or so is gonna be rough for a lot of them, with the loss of routine and a regular schedule. Or the potential for sensory overload.

I don’t know why I thought I would have an ounce of productivity in me this week but that was a very incorrect assumption.

Do you have a friend who just published a book? A favorite author who’s been overlooked?

Hennepin County Library patrons can suggest up to five book titles per month for purchase.

I hope you’ll join me as an amateur collection development specialist 📚
1. Go to your local library and fill out request forms.

2. Show up at your local school board meetings. Sign up to speak. Remind them that access to books that are relevant and relatable INCREASES LITERACY, which is literally the job of schools

3. Show up at library board meetings. Same thing.

After bingeing S1 & S2 of Interview with the Vampire, I spent this week rewatching them on one of my favorite reactor’s Patreon channels and now I honestly don’t know what to do with myself.
Nearly all of my content consumed the past few weeks has been IWTV related and now what? I just.. move on??

Alt: Actor Jacob Anderson says "no i can’t do that" while standing in a suit, smiling and shaking his head and gesturing with his left hand. He is standing next to actor Sam Reid, who is sticking his tongue out in a taco shape.
