I knew that this day was coming. The UCP had been warning for months that they were going to take away the rights of transgender people (not just children but adults too). I thought I was prepared. But I am still very angry that it has happened.

Good morning.

If you live in Alberta, you should know that today your government will invoke the notwithstanding clause to wage war against transgender Albertans.

Not because transgender persons are harmful, but because the UCP is distracting you from their mountain of failures.

Bill 2: The Back to School Act (what a monstrous and arrogant title) is missing a Preamble.

Here's my suggestion.

WHEREAS the government of Alberta doesn't give a fig for the Charter rights of teachers or the rights of teachers under Alberta's own Bill of Rights

Let's be clear about what happened today.

Premier Smith introduced a bill to strip Albertans of Charter rights,

denied MLAs the opportunity to debate it and the courts the ability to scrutinize it,

and did all of this from her seat on a jet to Saudi Arabia.
The UCP government has invoked time allocation and on a bill removing Albertans' Charter rights.

And they're using the notwithstanding clause to do it.

Here's why that is a dangerous precedent. And why real conservatives need to stand up against it.

Dear Albertans.
Today we face the prospect that Ms Smith will legislate teachers back to work 'cos it says we can't afford to settle.
Meanwhile the GoA is paying $$ (so far $237M - likely as much as $650M) to Aussie coal companies to settle claims created by the UCP's own incompetence

Parents, the UCP kept your kids out of school for over 3 weeks and hasn't taken a single step since to improve learning conditions.

What an insult to you, your kids and their teachers.

And now they’re going to force teachers back to those same conditions.

This is the narrative that needs to haunt Premier Smith and the UCP.
Mismanagement. Incompetence. Wasting taxpayer dollars. And zero benefit to Albertans.

No money for our kids & teachers, but millions in tax $$$ for hand-counting ballots, partisan license plates, Turkish Tylenol, useless masks, private surgical facilities, US prayer breakfast trips, and…coal lawsuits?

Alberta, you tired of Danielle’s UCP?

Those of you standing in long lines for municipal elections in Alberta today:

1) stay in line; your voice matters
2) the long lines are a direct consequence of the conspiracy-driven policy changes brought forward by the UCP government (and not your beleaguered election workers); be kind

Got off the plane and walked into a drug store in Ottawa and got my COVID vaccine in under 5 minutes. No line up. No appointment. No cost.

Was even asked if I wanted Moderna or Pfizer.

It’s unconscionable that we can’t get this same level of service in Alberta.

🚨 This is inexplicable news to share. If in Alberta and you want flu and covid shots for NEXT year (2026-2027), you have only until December 15 of THIS year to order them.

This is not incompetence. It’s a deliberate choice to prevent as many people ..
