Trying this thing of identifying myself by what I enjoy doing rather than my job. I like hiking, reading, theologizing, and humor.
Inspired by @flamygrant.bandcamp.com 's song "Esther, Ruth, and Rahab" i was the witch of Endor and the pumpkin was Samuel the ghost

Random question as I'm thinking about the moderate in religious terms: I'm understanding "moderate" as someone who agrees with the status quo but is quiet about it. Does our language of the "third way" inhibit us to think beyond the binary theologically?

Thinking about how we equate success with numerical growth and platforms, regardless of character or well being. But thats not the case, in my experience

This is small, but the fact that it's VBS week and we decorated the church and are excited about all the silly and fun VBS things still shows that hope lives

Deliver me, O Lord, from evildoers;
protect me from the violent,
Who devise evil in their hearts
and stir up strife all day long.
They have sharpened their tongues like a serpent;
adder’s poison is under their lips.

from my sermon yesterday on Leviticus 19:

freedom and welcome go hand in hand. When we are free, we can embrace welcome. When we are free, we can free ourselves to be welcomed.

Shout out to all of the faculty and students who made it through this semester in particular. What a time to be teaching and learning in spaces that are directly under attack from people who benefited from having access to the same resources themselves.

Today's Pray as You go considers Acts 9 and the Ignatiuan practice of Agere Contra.

I wonder who had the biggest struggle with their transformation.

Paul in changing his whole orientation in the world?

Or Ananais in embracing someone he had only known as a persecutor - and calling him brother?

Today is spy Wednesday, where it's believed Judas betrayed Jesus for 40 pieces of silver. I wonder if he thought he was trying to keep the peace. Or wanted to get on the powerful leaders' good graces
I'm obsessed with the bad guys of holy week bc I tend to find myself in them. The self righteousness of Judas, the white moderateness of Pilate, the grab for power of Herod, the desire to be cool in the crowd shouting "crucify".

The shocking thing about Holy week is how normal it is
