Our crews are trained to notice when things are out of the ordinary, and that training helped a child today. Shortly after today’s Amber Alert was issued, a sharp-eyed crew member on the Issaquah noticed that a pair that matched the description of the child & suspect had walked on in Bremerton.

I find myself getting sincerely emotional about this. That he’s, under the circumstances, okay. That his wife and kids know this after an agonizing month without him. That a Democratic politician cared enough to go and see him, even after getting told no at first. Trying matters. Fighting works.
I said my main goal of this trip was to meet with Kilmar. Tonight I had that chance. I have called his wife, Jennifer, to pass along his message of love. I look forward to providing a full update upon my return.

Completely unsurprised. This was incredible journalism. 👏🏼👏🏼🎉

This stat correlates with the demise of democracy.

I would be curious to know what percentage of these reporters are making a living wage and working at a publication with resources.
The disparity has grown even further. New federal data shows that the United States now has:
• 41,550 journalists
• 280,590 public relations specialists

For every reporter, there are now about seven PR people.

Work trip this weekend.
I always enjoy visiting Spokane. Great meetings with @mayorspokane.bsky.social Lisa Brown, outgoing @gonzagauniversity.bsky.social President Thayne McCulloh, and the residents and staff at @wdva.bsky.social Spokane Veterans Home.

Re: my previous post. This executive order is unconstitutional and it is dangerous.
In a new lawsuit filed against Trump by state AGs, a family with a trans kid shares she died by suicide last month citing fears Trump would deny her access to gender-affirming care. "Her parents have expressed fear...that what happened to their daughter does not happen to other children."

I want to repeat what the speakers at today's press conference said: to be OK with Trump's illegal executive order means you are OK with children suffering and dying. Nobody should be OK with that.

People don't think about death investigations until their circumstances force them to. Reporting like this is so important.
UPDATE: Rick Taylor resigned. His county commissioners just voted to appoint his successor: a deputy from Coroner Jimmy Roberts' team. She told them she works for "one of the only counties in Idaho that actually adhered to standards" for death investigations.

Let’s talk about a different aspect of Pete Hegseth: His views on religion and the military, and how the two intertwine.

We have been reviewing his extensive writings and connections. Here is a closer look at some of what we’ve found.

Terrifying.
New from me: in his 2020 book American Crusade, Trump’s Pentagon pick wrote that if Democrats won that year there would be a “national divorce” in which “The military and police … will be forced to make a choice” and “Yes, there will be some form of civil war” www.theguardian.com/us-news/2024...
