This averages out at a violation roughly every four hours, around the clock, continuously since 10 October. At what point do we stop calling it a ceasefire when Israel has just literally not ceased firing

Barely awake after a couple of hectic days in Capital City, and this lovely thing happens!
My thanks to Mícheál McCann for his reading of the poems in TIDAL and his review in today's Irish Times.
I am a happy lapin. @doirepress.bsky.social

This is typical of government departments not doing their jobs. Access was denied by Coillte, yet there was trespassing and after that, environmental destruction.
The Gardai should have been alerted the minute that machinery appeared.

Please read this excellent article about the dramatic rise of costs in publishing by a truly great indie press. When you buy a book, 'you are buying a stake in the survival of our world of letters'.
An article on the pressures on publishing, rising costs, what can be done about it - and how readers can also help.

(This ran in the Society of Authors quarterly, The Author, earlier this year. They've kindly given me permission to reproduce it on my Substack.)
What does it cost to produce a book?
Why small presses in the UK are struggling - and what can be done about it.

So Starmer and his mates have recognised #Palestine as a sovereign state, but they're not stopping the sale of arms to the Israelis who are determined to bomb it out of existence.

All the President's Men is one of my favourite films. Still relevant. My mushy heart can never have enough of Out of Africa and The Navral. And Ordinary People & Quiz Show are two more - so beautifully directed.
Add in the Sundance Festival & his environmental work - yes, Redford made his mark.
😢
Breaking news: Robert Redford, an actor whose looks and subtle magnetism in films made him one of the biggest movie stars of all time, but who also forged a legacy in cinema as a patron saint of American independent film, died Sept. 16. He was 89.

BREAKING: ICE is sending Russian dissidents back to Russia. When the dissidents arrived in Russia, the Russian authorities were given documents relating to their asylum applications in the US which under US law are confidential. This seems to be part of a secret agreement between Trump and Putin.

Hear the Long-Lost Chants of English Monks, Revived for the First Time in 500 Years
Listening to music, especially live music, can be a religious experience. These days, most of us say that figuratively, but for medieval monks, it was the literal truth.
