For a world massively concerned about the violence in our streets and marching against the violence we are seeing abroad - socially, emotionally, statistically, and as acts of war - are we cheering a bit too loudly for the brutality as entertainment?

In The Stone Forger’s Way, what is a Stone? A stone is any moment, task, obligation, relationship, creative work, or life circumstance that requires your attention and energy. It’s the fundamental unit of conscious creation. Stones exist in three states: 1. Unexamined Stones (The Stone Carrier’s burden)These are the invisible weights you carry—past regrets, future anxieties, unfulfilled obligations, unprocessed emotions. They swing chaotically from your energy body, creating exhaustion and fragmentation. You haven’t chosen to carry them consciously; they’ve accumulated through conditioning and environmental dissonance. 2. Thrown Stones (The Stone Thrower’s release is illustrated in this image)These are burdens released without consciousness—obligations abandoned, relationships ended abruptly, responsibilities rejected. The release creates temporary relief but often generates new chaos because the throwing wasn’t intentional or aligned. 3. Forged Stones (The Stone Forger’s creation)These are moments, tasks, or circumstances you’ve chosen to engage with full presence and intention. When you bring undivided attention to a single stone—even answering an email, washing a dish, or having a difficult conversation—you transform it from burden into conscious creation. Something I’ve noticed is there seems to be a sort of pervasive assumption that the status quo has gravity. That there’s a natural, comfortable way things should be and that deviations from the normal state of the world will correct themselves in time.

But as a paleontologist, I know this is false.

This is a picture of the gasses of the Milkey Way arm with some big beach rocks as foreground. I’m super stoked for this because it’s the best one I’ve ever taken and I’ve been trying this for years (altho only able on certain vacations when it’s dark enough). Not only is it my best, but I left the Canon DSLR at home and used an iPhone 14 for this (still shooting Raw tho) The night sky on Greek islands was so profoundly dark. I can’t wait to get to Africa now (hopefully soon). My previous profound was going to the Grand Tetons in WY after living in LA for 20 years. The jump in darkness from WY to Greece may have been larger than the jump from LA to WY. It was DARK! Also, some of my shots were on Crete shooting south the night the IDF attacked Greta and the Floatilla. We didn’t hear about it until days later but it was only 10mi away so I’m checking my shots for drones. Sketchy. B4L folks. B4L

I was thinking about versatility today, and recognized that witches are underrated versatillians.

Life is short, and I've shortened mine in a thousand delicious, ill-advised ways, a thousand deliciously ill-advised ways I'll keep from my children. The world is at least fifty percent terrible, and that's a conservative estimate, though I keep this from my children. For every bird there is a stone thrown at a bird. For every loved child, a child broken, bagged, sunk in a lake. Life is short and the world is at least half terrible, and for every kind stranger, there is one who would break you, though I keep this from my children. I am trying to sell them the world. Any decent realtor, walking you through a real shithole, chirps on about good bones: This place could be beautiful, right? You could make this place beautiful.
