@nigella.bsky.social Nigella thanks for your outstanding chocolate pistachio fudge recipe - I made loads of it this year and handed it out to all my pals, colleagues, the guys in the paper shop etc. Universally enjoyed. Thanks for all you do and hope you have a smashing Christmas 🎄

Massive thanks to everyone who helped share this fundraiser and bought @radicalglasgowtour.bsky.social vouchers for 2026 - we raised a total of £2,440 for Glasgow City Mission and Gaza Soup Kitchen which is brilliant!
Just picked up a reprint of the vouchers from Good Press and they look class!

The treatment of the Filton24, and the hunger strikers in particular, is astonishingly cruel and unjust. One young man I know is in jail pending trial in *2027*. The mental toll on the accused and their families is despicable.
Eight Palestine Action activists are being left to die in prison – all without even facing trial.

We must force the government to act, before it’s too late ⬇️

Important milestone as a parent: informed by my son at 7:30pm that he was to have made a model volcano for tomorrow. Feel like this is very respectable under the circumstances but then he refused to even take it into school because “it’s too wee” ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I write a newspaper column about Scottish history, historians and heritage.

I’m keen to feature more Early Career Researchers. Their work might not otherwise be publicised to a wide audience. Do you know anyone who might like to be in the column?

‘consider not giving presents this holiday season’ 💀
British Library staff asked for a decent pay. Instead they got ‘a few money-saving present ideas’, such as ‘consider not giving presents this holiday season’. They are on strike this week. I wrote about it for @lrb.co.uk. www.lrb.co.uk/blog/2025/de...

My transcription win of the day is correctly working out a (to me) highly unusual surname. Gárate Ossandón! I'm a bit smug about interviews with Spanish speakers because I'm like, oh I can HEAR the names much better than if they are in Farsi or Urdu. But Gárate Ossandón was hard work!
