The 12th annual international Gender Census 2025 is now open until at least 30th August 2025!

survey.gendercensus.com

It's for anyone whose gender (or lack thereof) isn't described by the M/F binary. It's short and easy, and results are useful in academia, business and self-advocacy.

. . .one day #Suzume may not make me cry, but tonight is not that day. >.>

(It's sooo good, but also aaa, my Daijin feelings. . .)

Rewatching Underworld/Underworld: Evolution and reminded that Michael is . . . mostly a cardboard cutout of a character. . . I don't find Selene terribly compelling as a character, myself, but at least she feels like one!

(Among reasons I far more often just watch Rise of the Lycans than- >.>)

My #crochet practise continues (with occasional questions sent to pepper my very gracious friend, who has answered all of them); I started this on December 31st as lie-flat circle practise, and it's currently intended to be a rune reading/casting mat!

Everyone needs a hand to hold on to.
Whether that hand is fleshy, furry, feathery, leathery, clawed, or tentacled and covered in ancient witch-fire is up to you.

One excellent thing about having an SSD is my anxiety while running updates (or just rebooting) (look two laptops went to toast in reboots, it's an anxiety unfortunately rooted in experience) goes wayyy faster.

Feature update put me through anxiety for 28 minutes downloading; 5 minutes to restart.

I think this will be another great year to read and write about the same people falling in love in thousands of different little ways.

in times of war, a wise general will furnish their soldiers with chocolates and other little treats to maintain the morale sufficient to perform in combat. Do you imagine your own effectiveness is less dependent on such small luxuries? Go, get yourself a treat today, lest Stalingrad fall

I have continued reading a book I was in the middle of, but a friend gave me this one tonight (I cackled with delight) and I think it's going to be my first new read of the year. XD #booksky

Fandom Year in Review (2024)
It's the very last day of 2024, so it's time for my annual look back at my year in fandom - and specifically on AO3! And some stats, of course. ;) (Then I'll get back to writing before the new year!…

wooden snakes for lunar new year 2025 and the patreon rewards for december.
The first three snakes are stickers and the one with the background is a postcard print.

Each snake is inspired by a pace I visited or want to visit.

I have spent a chunk of today (with the help of a friend via DM) beginning to learn a new skill! I knit, but never managed to #crochet successfully - today I have!

This was beginner practise; the wonkiness it developed lent itself to a stocking shape, so I improvised a small ornament. ^.^

i don't think millennials and gen xers "feel like sellouts" I think authors think the job of "writing the book" is an entire fucking job and marketing it is a second entire fucking job and doing the first means you shouldn't also be expected to do all of the second
Normalise going to publishers and asking them "What do you even do?" in a very aggressive strained tone.

'The moors' - a moorland landscape I did all the way back in 2021 but remains a favourite of mine :) this aerial embroidery took so long to do with all the tiny knots for the heather bushes!! Heather is a favourite feature I like to add but they're the most time consuming thing I sew #fibrearts

Sitting around poking writing and watching a movie in this chilly morning, with some soft, purry company. #cats

(Dora's beside me, obviously, as seen here; Tachi is draped over my lap and half under the edge of my worktable.)

The energy I’m taking into 2025
December 26, 2024 at 4:30 PM
Logically I know it's not really healthier, but lack of sleep due to stress (which then makes it easier to stress more when awake, due to lack of sleep making emotions wobbly) does make me kind of miss the ability to depression-sleep for 12-15 hours the way I did when stressed when I was younger. 🙈

In addition to the usual irritation of subtitles that don't actually accurately represent the dialogue in movies, the last three movies I've watched on Disney+ have all had sections where the subtitles just . . . stop. They don't exist. At all. What the fuck? How did y'all consider this acceptable?

Made three new spreadsheets and reorganised some data in other ways for later me, which was (hopefully) helpful and also did a way better job of soothing the despair spiral than I've done all week.

Cataloguing and data entry are such good things for me, though I often don't have enough of it to do.

Watching a favourite uplifting/soothing movie this morning; truly #CaptainHarlock remains the most hopeful and uplifting movie despite its rather dark premise. . .

(It's also very pretty.)

I haven't slept all night (again), am still recovering from sick (flu?), and I've been stress spiralling.

What an excellent time this is to try and figure out a combinatorics problem. I don't think I was ever taught any form of combinatorics in school, even (which was Some Time Ago now). Thrilling!
