Or the summer may be those 3 degrees too hot, making the plants become heat stressed, and kill half your yield.

As someone who has actually grown food, it's really really hard. It's practically a full time job except there's no pay and if you get bad luck you starve.
i feel like all the "just grow and preserve your own food" morons yapping on here are doing so bc they've never actually done either of those things, bc it is unbelievably easy to kill your family and yourself with improper food handling and canning techniques. you do not fuck around with botulism

His teachings, said his disciple Musaeus, had one simple theme: Everything comes into being from the One and is resolved into the One again.

And that's Providence. The gods are in essence everywhere, and when we are ready and able to participate in them we feel their presence and power in our lives.
A question that I see commonly asked is
"Why is [insert God] interested in me & trying to reach out?"

From a Neo-Orphic perspective, the answer is as simple as this: We are their family! They are part of us, we are part of them, and an attractive/magnetic force draws us to them and them to us!

May the sword of your spirit strike terror into all tyrants and destroyers of the spirit. May the Holy One strike deep into the hollows of despair and bring you joy. May the sharp edge of revelation unveil the truths of destiny and transmutation.

This is why you MUST read primary sources instead of just relying on modern "gurus".
Beware of posers, nuts, and frauds. They’re (metaphorical) vampires of a kind in disguise.

I was definitely not born a pagan or occultist. I came to it after my senior year of high school when I experienced an existential crisis. And even then it has been a long, slow orbit that's involved Buddhism, mystical experiences, and lots of reading and listening. And I'm nowhere near the end.
My worry is that newbies join, see our posts, and assume we were all just born knowing what to do and how it works. But most of us didn't just pull a Gods name out of a hat or pick a magickal path because it was popular. There was a *process.* And that needs to be made clearer, I think.

I think we also need a more comprehensive "Canon" of texts. I admit this is a controversial take. How do you create "orthodoxy" in a system that is known for heresy? It would be hard, but I think it's important to weed out charlatans and bad actors in order to keep misinformation out.
Regarding my post yesterday, I've been doing a lot of thinking about critical thinking in occultism. Specifically, how we can promote critical thinking within the community.

Personally, I think the best method would be for folks to explain their "process" more often. Here's what I mean:

Religion is, as you know, extremely complex. There are a lot of factors why people choose to follow or practice a religion, and our instincts for spirituality as a collective will probably never go away. I'm not trying to convince you, but you are setting yourself up for sore disappointment 🤷
