Searching for a used car (a "kid's car" for the kids to share for work) and - as usual - I have paralysis by analysis. I have a spreadsheet with the info needed. But cannot decide what to do.

This is the kind of thing I would fund if I won the lottery. I have a whole plan in place.
For the first time a U.S. county is making their guaranteed income program permanent.

The Cook County Board of Commissioners has unanimously approved $7.5 million to continue its guaranteed income program.

Each month over 3,000 households will get an unconditional $500.

And just like that, the turkey and veg scraps have become 4 quarts of stock for the freezer and my cooking is done for a few days.

This reminded me to get the abomination out of the pantry for the one person at my table who adores it.
Cranberry sauce straight outta the can is trash—either make a cranberry salad or save that 89 cents, love. We don’t need your ridged cranberry gelatin on the dinner table.
5. What’s a controversial food take that you’d stand ten toes down and defend at all costs?

Just a friendly reminder as we go into the holidays:

Folks don't have to explain to you why they don't drink.

If you offer them a drink and they decline, don't ask them why. It's not your business.

Just offer them something without alcohol to drink instead. And move on.

The highest year-over-year inflation rate since the CPI was introduced was 20.49% in 1917
In recent (50-year) history, the year-over-year inflation highs were 1979 (13.30%), 1980 (12.50%), and 2021 (7.00%).

It was 3.40% in 2023 and 2.9% in 2024
Scott Turner shamelessly lies: "When we came into this administration, our fiscal house was not in order. Inflation was at an all time high."

it was cloudy last night no northern lights for us. but all day they said tonight would be great, too. So we drove to a dark part of the Lake Erie shoreline. And…no lights. 👎🏼

If the Dems blink after all of this, for a deal that all but ensures no ACA subsidies in 2026 anyway, then what was the purpose of letting the shutdown go for 40 days in the first place?

Another win: a school district in a county that went 56% for DFT and has nearly all GOP elected offices, defeated an attempted MAGA takeover of its school board. It was a pack of 3 that ran on culture-war issues, were endorsed by GOP, and advocated for book bans.
One of the 3 lost by only 5 votes!

Local, beloved burger chain is giving free kids meals to anyone under the age of 18 with the presentation of a SNAP/EBT card (no limit on meals per family) for the next week.

there a big annual fundraiser in town that’s a designer* clothing sale (*they are generous with that term - Armani, Prada, St John next to Eileen Fisher, Chico and lily Pulitzer) and i know I’m an old lady but nearly everything was polyester/acrylic/rayon or some gross blend of synthetic fibers.

I’m somehow on the side of TikTok that’s all younger women absolutely thirsting after the actors in a Halloween show at an amusement park (Fryboy and Archer, FYI). And my GenX self is cracking up because they are just dressed like Brandon Lee in The Crow.

Reminder: Just a few months ago, he swore in 2 Republican representatives during a pro forma session, within 24 hours of their special elections.

She can't "serve her constituents" when she hasn't been sworn in.

This man loves lying
Mike Johnson on Adelita Grijalva, who he refuses to swear in: "Instead of doing TikTok videos, she should be serving her constituents."
