Literally everyone who even vaguely knew what a tariff was said this when they were introduced! You don’t need a team of economists to analyze the situation — no one who lives in reality was confused by this!

Because I couldn’t stop myself from getting involved in the Heated Rivalry discourse…. My latest, with my cool grad student, for Ms. Magazine! Off the ice relationships on HBO are great tv, but uhhh why doesn’t the NHL have a DV policy? Asking the league to do better

While we are on the subject of hockey (cough, Heated Rivalry) ... why doesn’t the NHL have a domestic violence policy?

Colorado workers need to earn $36.79 an hour to afford a fairly low Denver rent.

A guaranteed income program could help low-income families cover housing and child care, but a statewide universal program could cost more than half of the state’s annual budget.
A Colorado guaranteed income program could help families, but the costs are high
A few hundred extra dollars a month would go a long way for many Coloradans.

the silliness of
- saying that newly minted phds are 25yo
- acting like hiring a phd is committing to them for half a century without knowing if they can 'keep up' when there's literally an entire tenure/promotion process
“That’s the new norm at Albright, Townsley says, adding that she’ll never again hire someone with tenure protections anywhere she works. “You’re bringing someone in who’s finished their Ph.D., and if they’re 25 years old they can work 50 years or more. Are they going to keep up?” she asks.”

just one of many ways that women handle unpaid and invisible emotional labor in the academy
It struck me this week that I probably have more students cry in my office in a semester than some faculty have over the course of their entire careers. Not crying about my courses (phew) but bc they are having a hard time, bc the moment feels like too much, &/or bc they just want to be heard.
