Feel like Moriurara (got a shikona change in 2010 to a name inspired by the losingest racehorse in Japan, Haru Urara, who just passed away yesterday) also deserves a mention. He'd never had a winning record in a tournament before the name change, and he's never ranked higher than jonidan 56.
