I do think AO3 is going to go down this path sooner or later. Possibly sooner because AI has already deeply dug into it compared to Wikipedia.

That's a problem. Those terms could be anything. For something reliant on user-driven contributions, users deserve 100% transparency so they know what they are contributing to.
